The Sr Analyst, Data Base is responsible for managing Canada SQL Servers and providing assistance and advises to the development team pertaining to all database matters specifically creation, backup, restoration, fine tuning and setting up access levels. Also, this position will act as a technical lead when required. This role will require accessing sensitive and confidential information such as customer and associate information.
Responsible for managing Canada SQL servers which includes, installation, configuration, setting user access levels, troubleshooting, and implementation of database change controls.
Perform technical lead/ quality assurance functions such as unit testing, creation of change control for application roll-out, develop technical design document and perform code reviews for applications developed by peers and 3rd party developers
Research and coordinate with the US on potential data source for applications approved for development in-country.
Review business requirements and provide detailed estimates for the effort or resources needed to complete the requirements. Build technical solutions based on technical design document and program specifications following the ISD approved practice.Identify and build reusable components across projects to ensure productivity improvement. Create and ensure execution of installation plans.
Responsible for ensuring performance efficiency, capacity management, and security for all SQL servers in Canada.
Work closely with the developers in the database design that includes creating normalized databases, star schema modelling, security/access levels, fine tuning of queries, assigning proper indexes and creating triggers, stored procedures and ETL packages.
Act as Subject Matter Expert with regards to data warehouse and transactional database design required for local business intelligence reporting and/or application development.
Provide mentoring and guidance to new developers and programmer/analyst in the work assigned to them applying best practices and standards.
Extensive: Microsoft SQL Server Adminstration, Database Design and Development, Business Intelligence Development using SSAS/SSRS and SSIS
Broad: Microsoft.Net programming, Oracle Database Administration, Oracle applications development, Mainframe programming and Teradata Object Oriented Programming, Visual Studio Platform Development.
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Years of Experience Required:
3-5 year's experience
