The Digital Marketing and Communications environment in Individual is a highly dynamic, constantly evolving area in the division, requiring in-depth knowledge of marketing to meet the needs of clients, advisors, head office areas, and shareholders. Marketing is involved in the majority of efforts in the division, many of which are initiated directly by the department. It also provides expertise to other business unit efforts and drives these efforts forward.
As a member of the Digital Publishing team, the website publisher updates content on Sun Life's Internal and External websites and also manages specific publishing projects. This role works closely with Information Technology and other key stakeholders to manage/troubleshoot and work through any web content related issues and providing testing as required.
Ensures the delivery of Advisor and Customer facing web content including links to tools, graphics, and audio video clips for operational and project support
Delivers effective web solutions for projects and day to day operational support
Helps deliver requirements for styles specific to individual websites
Champions advisor and customer needs on the websites
Testing resource for IT related products where a business technical resource is required
Participates in the development of planning as it pertains to web based content and application systems
Provides consultation to other members of the publishing team for solutions to web publication and technical support of content
Interprets new style guide and accessibility initiatives and helps the team understand how to fit them in our processes
Identifies opportunities to improve web experience
Recommends and executes the most appropriate online content solutions
Occasional need to work with and direct third party vendors for online initiatives
Ensures team members are kept informed of the website impacts to projects or initiatives
Manages defects and issues resolution through JIRA
Demonstrates analytical, logical thinking and problem solving skills
Key resource in times of Business Continuity issues to get messages out to Consumers and Advisors and may be on call during times of a business continuity crisis
Expert skills in HTML and Java
Proficiency in software such as Flash, Lotus Notes, Dream weaver, Multimedia presentations etc
Knowledge of WordPress
Understanding of web capabilities such as: SEO, accessibility, mobile, and tagging
Working knowledge of digital publishing or content management, preference given to experience using WEM/Vignette
Ability to quickly learn different content management systems and produce documentation
Familiarity with digital publishing best practices and current trends, particularly responsive design
High proficiency with personal and business computers and browser support
Proven problem-solving and decision making skills
Able to facilitate discovery of alternatives and drive decision making
Energetic team player who is able to excel in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work self-sufficiently in a fast paced ever changing environment
Education & Experience:
2 years or more experience in content publishing and online Marketing capabilities is an asset
Formal education in HTML and Java programming is an asset
Experience with the Vignette content management tool or any online publishing tool is an asset
Bilingualism (English/French) an asset
