Ivey Business School at Western University seeks a collaborative and ambitious executive director of advancement to bolster philanthropic support and inspire greater alumni engagement. The executive director will serve as Ivey’s chief development officer and will partner with the dean to craft an advancement strategy to support key institutional priorities and significantly increase the school’s philanthropic potential.
Building on the recent success of Ivey’s $206 million campaign, the executive director will partner with senior leadership at Ivey and across Western to provide strategic vision and leadership for Ivey’s fundraising and alumni relations activities and develop a comprehensive advancement strategy that addresses the school’s short- and long-term goals. This position will work closely with the school’s leading alumni and friends, who create, redefine, and build cutting-edge products, services, markets, and organizations; to deepen the engagement of prominent corporate leaders in Canada and abroad. To this end, the executive director will lead, inspire, and mentor a professional advancement staff and will actively participate in the dean’s senior operations team to define a culture of philanthropy that supports key institutional priorities.

The ideal candidate will possess at least 15 years of development leadership experience in complex external relations programs recognized for their strength and effectiveness; meaningful experience in or knowledge of all key advancement areas (major and planned giving, annual fund, alumni relations and foundation relations); demonstrated knowledge of comprehensive university campaigns and effective alumni relations programs; evidence of the ability to think strategically and manage a process leading to the successful adoption of a strategic plan; and a proven track record of managing a diverse and talented team of global external relations professionals. The candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Success in networking and building effective partnerships within complex organizations and among high-level volunteer networks is paramount. Ivey is seeking a candidate with the maturity, perspective, and credibility to influence senior administrators as well as key alumni volunteers, most of whom are leaders in their respective professions and communities. An undergraduate degree is required; advanced degree preferred.
This is a three year renewable contract with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits packages. Salary range is $170,000 - $220,000 plus additional incentive compensation related to performance.
