Bilingual Special Accounts Representative

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Bilingual Collector is responsible for ensuring arrears are dealt with on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.  This individual is also responsible for providing support to the Supervisor and/or Team Leader where required in areas of administration and special projects.

Arrears Duties:

  • Investigation of delinquent accounts in assigned portfolio
  • Collection/administration of delinquent portfolio while minimizing exposure to monetary losses or damage to investor relationships and corporate image
  • Assist clients in budgeting and planning to correct existing and avoid future delinquency
  • Assessment and collection of fees
  • Reviewing bankruptcy and consumer proposals and filing proof of claim when required
  • Collection of common expense, strata liens, tax and utility arrears

Administrative Duties:

  • Set up of arrears settlement payments
  • Processing new information
  • Providing credit ratings and mortgage verifications
  • Collection of deficiency balances on discharged accounts
  • Point person for team members' inquiries
  • Coaches new team members as required
  • Handles escalations from within the team

Ideal Skills and Qualifications:

  • University degree, or equivalent combination of education and business experience
  • 1 year of Collections experience
  • Strong verbal and written skills, preferably English and French
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Team player who also works well independently and meets deadlines
  • Competency in MS Office; capacity to learn new technologies/systems
