PwC Vancouver is seeking people to join our Risk and Controls practice, with a focus on Controls at a Senior Associate level. Our Controls practice helps companies across all industries and sectors to assess and improve their controls, systems and processes we perform work for public and private companies in areas such as financial statement audit support (e.g. ITGC reviews, ERP/application control reviews, interface testing, report testing), third party assurance [SAS 70, Sec 5970} IT risk assessments [ITIL, ISO, COBIT], data management services (e.g. CAATs, data quality reviews), financial and operational business process reviews and project assurance/management services (e.g. project health checks).
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include:
. Documentation, review and assessment of Information Technology General Controls ("ITGCs");
. Internal control testing and reporting of the results internally to our audit group and externally to clients;
. Identification and/or development of business process and/or internal control recommendations for our clients
. Coordination of plans, work progress, test results and implications with our audit team and others
. Activities to support internal control and other assurances provided to third parties
. Support for data analytics tasks, such as using Excel and certain programs (e.g. ACL) to extract client data and perform analytics
This position is responsible for planning and scoping IT support work for our audit clients, developing detained project and IT test plans, executing tests and leading junior staff in their testing, reviewing work and reporting results. You will need to weigh evidence obtained and conditions observed in the audit work to reach audit and business process/internal control improvement decisions.
This position may also receive exposure in areas such as corporate governance, enterprise risk management, financial risk management, compliance risk management, internal audit, regulatory advisory and sustainable business solutions.
We are looking for people wanting a career path in MIS and information technology or who is a CA who have completed the following educational requirements
. A Bachelor of Business Administration, with a Major in Accounting, Finance and/or Management Information Systems (MIS); and/or
. A Degree and/or Diploma Business Administration and/or Information Technology
We will expect the successful candidate to commit to and pursue an IT related designation (e.g. CISM, CISSP) in this Senior Associate Role. Having and/or interest in also pursuing a financial audit designation (e.g. CA, CGA, CMA) or other designations (e.g. MBA, CIA, PMP) would be an asset. A person who is bilingual in English and Spanish would be an asset.
Skills and Work Experience
. Three or more years of experience in a similar role (e.g. financial audit, internal or external IT audit or relevant experience in the area of IT controls)
. Demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain ongoing business relationships with clients and an internal network
. Experience in supervising, reviewing work, training, coaching and evaluating junior staff
. In-depth understanding of business process/IT documentation, internal controls identification and key control selection, development of test plans and testing
. Strong written and oral communication skills (e.g. writing reports and giving presentations)
Technical knowledge of operating systems and applications is needed. Familiarity with SOX/CSOX controls testing, risk management, project management methods would be considered an asset. Candidates should be open to a reasonable amount of travel in Canada and/or internationally as opportunities arise.
