Workopolis Now Accepting Resumes for Exclusive Job Opportunity at Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games
Ambassador position will be chosen by Canadian voters

October 1, 2009 – Imagine attending some of the most-anticipated competitions and ceremonies at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and getting some once-in-a-lifetime paid work experience at the same time.  The Workopolis Ambassador will have the opportunity to do just that in Vancouver next February and resumes are being accepted for this coveted position starting today.

The Workopolis Ambassador will be assisting with Workopolis' supplier hospitality program throughout the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, accompanying guests to at least 18 sporting events and ceremonies, as well as to other Games related sites such as Canada Olympic House and Hockey House.  They will also provide ongoing behind-the-scenes commentary via a blog on Workopolis.com.  The chosen candidate will earn a salary of $7,000 for the three-week job plus receive free accommodation, transportation, event access and meals (valued at approx $15,000 CDN).

Other qualifications that would be an asset for the position include:

  • Experience in the hospitality industry;
  • Excellent customer service orientation;
  • Knowledge of blogging software and video applications;
  • Strong knowledge of British Columbian geography;
  • Outstanding communication, time-management and problem solving skills; and
  • Impeccable organizational skills.

Starting today, candidates aged 19 and over are invited to apply for the position on Workopolis.  The deadline for entries is October 21, 2009 at noon.  Quarter-finalists will be selected for a phone interview and then ten semi-finalists will be asked to submit a two-minute video and cover letter explaining why they should be hired.  Three finalists will then be selected for the public to vote for between December 1 and 15, 2009 and the winner announced on January 12, 2010 – just one month before the beginning of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.
