Workopolis Receives Accolades for Outstanding Corporate Culture
Award Recognizes Critical Role of Corporate Culture in Business Performance
Toronto, ON - November 19, 2009 – Workopolis has been chosen as the first organization to be given the Best Emerging Organization distinction as part of this year's Canada's 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures program. The award will be presented to Workopolis at an awards gala hosted by Waterstone Human Capital on February 1, 2010.
“Corporate culture is the foundation for employee values and behaviours which are critical to delivering on business objectives and is the basis of the unique employer brand experience we offer our people,” said Gabriel Bouchard, President and Chief Brand Officer, Workopolis. “Our strong culture helps differentiate us in the marketplace and drives exceptional employee engagement; one of the key drivers that explains why Workopolis continues to be in a position of growth despite the many uncertainties in the business world from the past year. I attribute much of this success to the fact that as a company we live and breathe something we call The Workopolis Promise every day.”
The Workopolis Promise is a commitment by and for employees, comprised of the five core values that every member of the organization is screened for and evaluated on.
"Workopolis is the undisputed leader in the online recruitment industry and their leadership team has a keen understanding of how culture drives performance," says Marty Parker, the managing director of Waterstone Human Capital. "In fact, their growth over the past five years was one of the reasons they were named the Best Emerging Organization in 2009.”
Workopolis also focuses on measuring employee satisfaction and engagement in order to provide relevant feedback and a benchmark by which to improve. In response to feedback from its employee survey, the company launched Workognition, a reward and recognition program for all employees, in January, 2009.
Since its inception, over 1000 nominations have been made by peers across the organization, resulting in over 150 awards. As a sponsor of the 2010 Winter Games, Workopolis chose to award four employees with the opportunity to bear the Olympic torch, as well as presenting six employees and their guests with the once-in-a- lifetime chance to experience the Games for themselves live in Vancouver.
“We have seen a strong shift in priorities on the job,” said Bouchard. “Factors like learning and development, creativity and opportunities to give back have become true indicators of job satisfaction for today’s working Canadians.”
