It's not easy to feel equality as the other staff members care more or less about their responsibilities and will do everything to escape them, especially if you work hard, the harder you work, the less the other staff members do.

The manager was awesome. Only problem is that the higher management is not on the field as much and seems to care less about their staff.

The culture is rich, econofitness has a motivation to help people. The rules and regulations set a convenient atmosphere for people to be there. It's got good family values but the pay does not reflect that.

The hardest part of the job is to scrub the bottom of machines. But that is the physical aspect. The worst is the Financial aspect, as they pay you minimum wage and ommit to send the full amount of taxes from your pay to the government, which not only gives you very little wage, but debts at the end of the year. The accounting team is hard to reach and does not advertise their behaviour until you find out you are deep in the red.

The most enjoyable part of the job, is that you help people have a good workout and get to learn alot from clients. If you love helping people, this is a very good place to be. Clients give you way more value than the higher management.

Its a bit sad because my Gym Manager was awesome, one of the best person ive come to meet. Its just sad that the value of the staff inside the gyms, managers and clerks, does not accomodate with today's reality.

Pretty boring when you have to stand behind a desk for 6 hours without having the right to either sit, read, do homework or practically anything. 

Only things that are interactive is cleaning the gym which barely takes up to an hour and customers coming to complain because the computer billing system that charges the monthly fee to them will block the payment half the time so you have to deal with that and make them pay manually. Might not sound like much but when you get 15 of these in a 5 hour shift, you'll understand. 

Oh and did I forget to mention there are no breaks and that you mostly work alone? Yep. fascinating, I know.

If you are looking for a simple job, this is as close as it gets to it.

Most shifts are spent greeting clients as they come and go, and selling subscriptions to new clients. Tasks also include:

-- Giving tours of the gym to new clients
-- Enforcing towel use, and indoor training shoes (in Winter only)
-- Cold-calling clients to remind them of upcoming/late payments
-- Making sure everyone leaves the gym at closing time (if your gym closes)
-- Some cleaning and merchandise prepping

Overall enjoyable experience with usually solo shifts in the evenings especially. Can be challenging to deal with difficult/disrespectful clients who do not abide by the gym rules.

I worked as a manager at Econofitness and I really enjoyed helping others and solving issues for the customers. It is important to be a positive person to be successful in this position.  You have to be a person who enjoys working in customer service and be very responsive to change. Keeping the facility clean is of upmost importance to the members and it can be challenging motivating the team to make this a focus. I had a very good experience. Loved working there! ❤️🫶🏽 Truly miss it already! 

I liked my job at Éconofitness for the most part but the management do not know how to communicate properly to the managers and employees. They gave unreachable sales goals that stressed out the manager of my gym and would pressure the employees like myself to push to the customers memberships. Also, they barely gave hours to the women-only gyms. It gotten better but it was not enough for me at that time. Also, you might work alone often but when you don't have to; it is always fun.

Basically as a clerk/commis at econofitness, you get paid minimum wage to do a janitors job. The whole shift they expect you to clean everything from the ceiling to the floor, must be standing the whole shift (no leaning on anything allowed) , no break room or even set break times, also you work alone most of the time so you can’t really take a break because they cut down the hours so much. You also usually get the schedule for the next week about a couple hours before the next week starts so you don’t have time to plan out your week. 

If you like to be surrounded by people working out, that is the place for you. Jokes aside, the job is very easy and stress-free. The environment is safe and most of the people there mind their business. The good point of this is that you work alone most of the times. There is no one behind your back telling you what to do and that is what I liked the most about it. The hardest part of the job would be to get everyone to leave at a reasonable hour so that the clean up does not take forever. Other than that, it is a quite a pleasant place to work as a student part-time job.

You come in and clean all the bathrooms and about half of the gym, ALONE or with another person. At the same time you have to be there for the clients and answer any questions and help them at any moment. Most shifts are alone or with one person. Management is unprofessional and unfair. Doesn’t verify with upper management before giving us new tasks that seem out of our role as simple employer. You will get paid minimum wage but do the work of a professional cleaner. 

There is no increase in salary, paid the minimum no matter the duration of your tenure. 
Higher management does not care about improving any services at the gym while the associates and gym managers have to deal with all the complaints about the lack of cleaning products, broken machines and bad music. 
Often long hours alone with nothing to do but read a book.
Expected to clean the machines and showers regularly.

Expect lots of cleaning, helping clients, selling memberships, and calling members for renewals. The staff and clients are most of the time super friendly and you get to know them well. Shifts range from 4-8 hours and managers are really good at accommodating students/other schedules. The hardest part of the job is dealing with uncooperative clients but that does not happen often. The best part of the job is the people.
