While the compensation may be enticing, it pales in comparison to the immense stress and uncertainty faced daily due to the absence of guidance and the toxic environment fostered by management and colleagues alike.

One of the most concerning issues at A New Tomorrow is the inadequate training provided to employees. From day one, it became evident that the company operates on a sink-or-swim mentality, leaving employees to navigate high-stakes situations without the necessary guidance or support. This lack of training not only leads to immense stress but also poses a significant risk to lives. The expectation from management to adhere to unspoken protocols further exacerbates this issue, creating an environment of uncertainty where mistakes are inevitable and consequences dire.

Moreover, the toxic work culture at A New Tomorrow is pervasive and deeply concerning. Long hours of overtime are expected, with little regard for work-life balance. Compliance is enforced through gossip and judgment from both colleagues and superiors, creating a hostile and unsupportive atmosphere. Constructive feedback is a rarity, replaced instead by indirect criticism relayed through backstabbing and gossip. This pervasive negativity not only hampers productivity but also takes a toll on employees' mental and emotional health.

While the wage and benefits at A New Tomorrow may be a silver lining for some, it cannot compensate for the toll that the lack of proper training and toxic work culture take on employees' well-being and morale. While there are learning opportunities inherent in being thrown into unfamiliar roles, these should be supplemented by comprehensive training and support, which is sorely lacking here.

As a member of the clinical team at A New Tomorrow, I can confidently say that I love my job and am happy to go to work each day. It feels great to work somewhere where the caseloads are manageable and the work is extremely meaningful. I find a lot of purpose in the work I get to do with my clients each day and truly feel like I am making a difference in people’s lives. I have held many social service roles where I did not feel fulfilled, was burnt out, and did not feel I was making a difference in such a big system. So for me personally, it is a big deal that I have found work that I love. 

One of my favourite parts of the job is interacting with my coworkers. The team culture is positive and being able to laugh with the team and also be supported in moments of difficulty is very needed. 

I feel very supported by my direct supervisor at A New Tomorrow. She listens to my concerns and cares. A New Tomorrow has given me growth and career development opportunities which I appreciate. 

I love working here and feel very grateful to be part of this team. The company cares about its employees, supports growth, and creates a positive, respectful work environment. Management is approachable, and easy to communicate with, and hard our hard work is recognized and appreciated.

There is a real sense of teamwork and collaboration, and people are always willing to help each other succeed. I feel valued in my role and proud to be part of an organization that maintains high standards while still supporting work-life balance.

Dealing with upper management and oppressive policies.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?

Toxic work environment, toxic leadership, and and decisions are made against employee interests. Employees are rarely trusted and not valued. High turnover rate. The leaders have no credible leadership experience and use their own personal bias and judgment to make life-changing decisions toward clients and employees. 

This facility tries to maximize profits at the expense of the treatment program and employees.

The management only supports their favourite (promotion or wage increase). Talk about speaking up and sharing your views, but when you do, either you will get a write-up or, worst, termination.

Micromanaging No matter how much you do, it is not enough. They expect human to not make 0 mistake and if you do make it, you will get write up without proper coaching or discussion or another chance for small mistakes. Never try to understand employee point of view other than their favourites.

Never going back

This toxic workplace shows with its failure in youth “graduations” no successes. 
No one has the proper training to work with addiction. They will hire anyone and that also means there’s no retention or consistency.  Most of the people working there are family friends and not trained. I feel so bad for the youth and their families. The gossip is rampant. And don’t get me started on their cultural programming or lack of. Don’t waste your time getting a job here it doesn’t look good on the resume. 

managers say they want you to speak your mind, but when employees speak their minds management takes it very personal and turns it back on employees during staff meetings and backs it up with employee training. Non union which means they will and have fired workers with very minimal explanation. The work that’s being done is great for the clients, although for workers the management at both sites lack critical thinking skills and grossly lacks accountability. 

I love what I do, I get to come to work and make a difference in someone's life. My workload can some times be a bit overwhelming, but what job comes with zero stress? My manager is amazing at supporting her team and making sure we have a good work/life balance. I feel heard when I speak my truths or advocate for a client. I feel that the nursing team as well as the other disciplines work very well together to optimize client centered care.   
This is a great place to work.

Management has been supportive,  understanding and works alongside frontline.
We have a fun environment to work in, while also helping others.
I feel valued, and respected from my supervisor.
At times this job can be stressful,  due to the nature of what we deal with. However we have check-ins, regular meetings and they listen to the staffs feedback.
