When I first started at Altus Environmental and Forestry back in 2006 I was given a computer from 1995 to do all my work on that was impossibly slow. Literally the cursor would turn for 2 and half minutes every time I made one small decision on the computer. The only way the supervisors can possible make themselves look good is by making you look bad (especially behind closed doors). And communication with supervisors is a waste of time, selfish and stupid. I was laid off because my supervisor was completely incompetent, stupid, rude, arrogant, and full-of-her-self. She lost all of her contracts and needed mine to keep her job.  She scapegoated all of her mistakes onto me and then manipulated me into signing for them promising me a fake bonus, I never got.  I heard she was  fired back in 2007; good. My Sponsoring Forester was useless too. They had no idea what is on the RPF test, and don't care. To meet with them was a 'bother', both times, over the period of a year. They had no notes to give and were not supportive at all. Then when all three FITs failed the RPF exam they threatened all three of us with termination and had us sign a threatening ignorant letter, that was unnecessary, and moronic. They literally spent more time with threats and manipulations then with honest help. I don't even think they understand what honest help is.  Their job performance review was brutal too. They pull you into a room, completely unprepared, rub some small mistake you made six months ago in you face repeatedly, and babel nonsense non stop. Then when you are so stupefied by how unprofessional and condescending they are, then they ask you to defend and cover-up their own heinous mistakes. And that was not just my experience, but all most all of my colleges that worked there at the time. My colleges won't say anything though because the supervisors are all so vindictive and dangerously stupid. My constructive criticism is they should join Toastmasters so they can learn to hide their low I.Q.s better. I was warned repeatedly by other Foresters not to work for them, but did so because of family reasons. Obviously regret. My recommendations to anyone working for them is to record all the unprofessional things they do and report them to the College of Professional Foresters. Because I don't think they are capable of improving on their own.

I recently had the pleasure of starting at Altus Group, and I have to say, I was extremely impressed with the organization as a whole. From the senior leadership to the company culture, everything about Altus Group was top-notch.

One of the things that stood out to me most was the senior leadership team. They were truly exceptional in their vision for the company and their ability to execute on that vision. They were approachable, supportive, and always willing to listen to feedback and suggestions from employees.

Additionally, I was impressed with the company's roadmap for technology enhancements. As a tech-savvy individual, this was important to me and made me confident in the company's ability to stay ahead of the curve.

Furthermore, the recent addition of a new CFO with a strong background in finance has been a game-changer for the organization. Their expertise and strategic thinking have already made a significant impact on the company's financial performance.

Finally, Altus Group places a strong emphasis on growth and education. There are ample opportunities for employees to learn and develop new skills, whether through training programs, mentorship opportunities, or other professional development initiatives. This investment in employees not only benefits the individual but also helps to drive the overall success of the company.

Overall, I would highly recommend Altus Group to anyone looking for a forward-thinking and highly competent organization with a strong commitment to its employees, customers, and growth.



If you are  a “favorite” employee you will be kept and promoted regardless of your poor performance at work. They have staff performance review every year that is useless. One-sided review. Management or directors must also be reviewed but they are not because they think they are perfect and never make mistakes. They never accept their mistakes anyway. This is the only   company I have seen where there are too many directors and company revenues go to their salaries while low-rank staff’s salary is low. You will never be appreciated and you wont feel the sense of belonging to this company unless you are a “favorite”. Too much politics and discrimination exists here. They claim to be EOE (equal opportunity employer) and this is bull—-! They are not. You will know it when you work here. They are big company but no RRSP benefit. Management is greedy. Staff are overworked and making them to earn great revenue that make them buy other companies, yet tehir employyes are overlooked and neglected

Having been at Altus Group for a few years now, and I can confidently say that it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. As an employee, I found the company to be an excellent employer, fostering a positive and supportive work environment that truly sets them apart.

First and foremost, Altus Group values its employees. From day one, I felt welcomed and appreciated, and it was clear that the company genuinely cares about its team members' professional growth and personal well-being. The management team is approachable and open to feedback, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard and respected.

Altus Group's commitment to innovation is truly commendable. The company constantly strives to stay ahead of the curve, embracing cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in their work. It was inspiring to be part of a team that consistently pushes boundaries and encourages creativity, fostering an environment where new ideas are not only welcomed but celebrated.

Been here about four years and have witnessed many changes in the organization including CEO switches. Current Leadership team has a strong vision and direction for the company, and has strong ambitions for the future. Overall, it is a highly innovative and open/flat environment to work in, with great great people and strong support from senior leadership for innovative ideas, strategy, and implementation projects that one can suggest. HR is leading many new initiatives to enhance the employee experience, and is rolling them out globally one by one. I would say the most enjoyable part of the job is the impact (and everyone I've met plays a key part; surprising in a Public mid-sized company) that you can contribute, as well as the kindhearted and open/supportive environment created by the employees themselves. Great culture, but there is always room for improvement. 

I am in a really small AFM group within a large cost&PM group. Basically, only two people are doing the exact jobs on a daily basis. The good thing is if you are confident with your work, and your director and clients think so as well. You can manage everything step by step, just you manage yourself, and deliver the work by the deadline. The bad thing is you don't have too many resources inside the company to learn, especially when you have an engineering background and want to develop in this area. They don't have PEng, or technical experts on board to ask and learn, which might limit your improvement, especially the first 5 years of engineering talents are important to pursue some kinds of certificates/titles. 

There's a lot that can be said about working here, from day one you are given what to expect about the role and your input. Almost none of this becomes reality and the longer you work here the more you realize the disconnect. You are constantly drowning in work and are expected to put in time during evenings and weekends (not occasionally, but consistently) and feel shamed when you don't. 
Managers only notice and bring up the mistakes you make and never the good work youve done. Overtime this destroys your confidence as you begin believing that anything you do is wrong and are constantly underappreciated. On top of this, they pay you the bare minimum they can starting out. I would proceed with caution with Altus and do your due diligence for who you will be working for and who will be on your team 

I've worked here for a while now, and I have no reason to leave. The pay is good overall, there are lots of options like pension matching, stock plans. A lot of the work is remote (the leadership team is based globally). The culture is supportive. Many big changes brought in by the current leadership team, particularly the CHRO. Easy place to grow your career. Lots of mentors. Plus they find value in keeping their staff retained over the long term vs. high turnover. Solid bonus plan.

There are so many areas to choose from to get involved in, and the management support trying new things to see what you like and where you fit.  There is a LOT of work so there can be additional hours needed at busy times, but I've always found the work rewarding and supported.  

There is a lot of respect for the Altus name from clients and industry, and that stems from their ability to adapt to the projects, as well as having tons of relevant data sources in house.  You end up feeling really good at being able to contribute meaningfully to projects.

• You can have busier work season than others, but you are provided time to relax and take time off when needed. 
• The company is growing worldwide and its exciting to be part of a company that faces new challenges, and has clear cut strategies established by management. 
• Be ready to work hard, but have fun while doing it!
