Pre-Trip Inspections – Checking the truck for safety, ensuring all equipment is in working order, and reviewing delivery details.

Driving & Deliveries – Spending hours on the road, managing routes, and making scheduled stops for deliveries or pickups.

Breaks & Compliance – Following Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, taking required rest breaks, and logging miles driven.

Communication & Problem-Solving – Staying in touch with dispatchers, handling any delays (traffic, weather, mechanical issues), and ensuring smooth deliveries.

End-of-Day Tasks – Parking the truck in a secure location, refueling, completing paperwork, and preparing for the next day.

Working at Amazon DSP (Delivery Service Partner) can be a challenging experience due to various factors. Typically a day would include feeling rushed and quickly learning that despite management encouraging you to take your breaks they don't ACTUALLY want you to take your breaks. I learned that Amazon themselves expect their drivers to take no breaks when it was explained to me that I was going too slow and they showed the rate they expect deliveries to be made and while mine dipped when I took my lunch, the expected line was perfectly straight.

The only positive was other drivers seemed to be fairly nice and supportive for the most part. There are also a number of vans that need a lot of fixing and while they have safety reports that need to be filled every day it seems they don't even look at them as I made mention of fixes that one van needed a number of times.

Lastly, the job was put out as full time, permanent. Then when peak season was over I was given a day off due to a lack of routes. Then a week later another day off, before they simply sent a poorly worded and confusing e-mail that informed me my "probation was terminated"

Needed a switch from a physically demanding job, and after being contacted by Amazon and had everything laid out, it sounded like the perfect fit for what I needed. 

Fast forward three months, I quit to find a better job that I actually love doing. This company makes their employees start their day as late as 11am and then expects them to complete their full 10 hours every single shift. The wage is far too low, and the amount of deliveries put on one person is far too high.

If you're ahead of your day and hoping to be done early, you get slammed with a rescue and have to remain out for longer. If you've fallen behind, you'll MAYBE have someone rescue you but then be asked to go and rescue someone else. The management, the system to manage deliveries, the equipment they provide, and the expectations put on each and every driver are all the reasons why there is literally a new person showing up on a DAILY BASIS! 

The first words I said when I quit was: "I'm happy to go back to having Amazon work for me".

Working at Amazon has been a fast-paced and challenging experience that helped me grow both personally and professionally. The work environment is highly structured, with clear procedures and expectations, which makes it easier to understand daily tasks. I learned how to manage time efficiently, especially when handling multiple responsibilities under pressure. The team environment is generally supportive, and communication with coworkers is important to keep operations running smoothly. Safety is also a strong focus, which makes the workplace feel organized and secure. However, the job can be physically demanding and sometimes repetitive, especially during peak seasons. Overall, my experience at Amazon has improved my attention to detail, adaptability, and work ethic. It is a good place for people who enjoy a dynamic environment and want to build strong discipline and efficiency in their work.

It started out easy enough, but then the expectations grew wild. There's a game center, not that you'll have any time to play with the games they got set up. Its crazy, unless you deliver everything on time without help, they'll fire you. I was there a month, i pushed myself so hard my joints gave out. I was fired a few days later citing "Budget cuts". No one else was. I, like anyone, wanted to try and problem solve. Not only was I ignored, but I was fired two weeks later. Management didn't even tell me there was a problem. I was completely blindsided when I was given a letter of termination at end of day. All those calls for a union are starting to make sense.

You work five days a week, up to ten plus hours a day, if you hustle your butt and finish early, they’ll send you to go help another driver, so there’s no incentive to hustle or work hard and no recognition. You will also be asked to work on your days off, so if you have a life, wave goodbye to it! Pay is decent, but you definitely earn it, you’ll be walking 15 to 17 km a day, and you’ll be lifting heavy packages and carrying them up many flights of some apartments buildings as not all have elevators, and in the process you will be banged up and bruised, and exhausted when you get home, so don’t expect to have lots of energy to do anything else. Don’t forget about the rude and inconsiderate drivers out on the road as well.

Large quantity of parcels, some heavier than imagined. It's a struggle to deliver them safely and quickly.

A day consists of: Loading up at the warehouse, driving your cube van to deliver, then returning to the warehouse to check out. 

The routes are very large sometimes. Drivers rarely get their promised breaks. Workload is 180-260+ parcels/day. 

Finding a good DSP helps, but doesn't solve the route of the problem, which is Amazon's unrealistic delivery targets and pressure on front line workers/drivers.

I always getting my route at chinook area where most of building doesn't have elevators. I was 47yrs old that time. I request them to change my route . It was most stressful for me .
