The tip pool is a scam here. Imagine making a decent amount in sales, multiple days a week and then not see even at least 5% of that on tip out days? This does not happen ANYWHERE else in the restaurant industry. Where is it going and how is that a fair system at all? The technology used is also so outdated it makes doing the job complicated and stressful during busy periods. Also, management sits there watching your every move on camera (with audio). Turnover rate is so high because people only work there because they have no other choice, once they find a better option they are gone and unfortunately most of the management knows this so they treat staff like peasants while they make the big bucks. I have actually heard one of the managers speak this way about their workers which was really upsetting. 

Significant staff turnover is evident across departments, including management, with higher management and ownership seemingly disconnected from operational realities.

Upper management hires inexperienced junior managers without enforcing accountability, while hourly staff face punitive measures for infractions unchecked at higher levels.

Staff accommodation is substandard and overpriced, lacking care standards and fostering a sense of replaceability among employees.

Instances of wrongful termination highlight a disregard for employee welfare from ownership and management. Surprisingly, the Coast corporate brand shows little concern for these issues, warranting a more proactive approach in overseeing a franchised location

Recently, poor upper management has caused many people to leave the housekeeping department. Sometimes, you have to work for far more than 8 hours. No matter how long you have worked here, if the big bosses don't like you, they treat you like you can be easily replaced. They might offer a higher wage in their job postings, but compared to other properties, they rarely raise your wage regularly. Don't let them fool you. After a few months, they might give you just a $0.50 raise, if any, and that's it. Lastly, the staff accommodation here is kind of worst. Compared to other hotels in Canmore, you pay more money and have to share a tiny room and bunk bed with another person. Even though you pay more, you still have to use coin-operated laundry machines.

Everyone is trying their best, unfortunately there are impossible to meet goals and a lack of support to get there. Have never felt appreciated by upper management, some departments have it better but the ones that earn all the revenue get shafted. Tips absolutely were taken from staff as a way of punishment - technically legal by Alberta Labour Standards, but unethical any way you slice it. Managers are often not present when required and when they are they cannot perform even the basic functions of their subordinates, let alone their own roles.

The leadership and upper management show little concern for the well-being of the staff. The provided accommodation is subpar, with deteriorating conditions, limited amenities like laundry, and cramped living conditions for an unjustifiably high price. Management capitalizes on the housing shortage to overcharge. Fequent turnover in both managerial and hourly positions. The staff lacks the necessary tools for effective job performance, and there is a noticeable absence of employee appreciation.

I work as a server at Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre under H2 Canmore Lodging LP. 
I genuinely enjoy what I do every day, the fast-paced environment, interacting with guests, and being part of a dynamic team. What excites me most is the potential for growth within the company. It’s a place where I feel supported and motivated to develop my skills and advance my career.

Enjoyed this job for a while, then new management started using peoples tips as punishment. Took tips from people instead of warnings and then proceeded to not give me mine at the end of my employment when I did everything correctly and completed my notice! Just be aware of this as it can really affect your finances when it’s money you rely on!

Lots of work hours offered if you want to save money. Management is quite rude and unprofessional. Owner stares at female staff and it’s uncomfortable.
They offer staff accommodation at a high price. 

I've learned a lot during my work in the hotel and I met a lot of people and had great friends. 

Workplace culture is great, built on respect and trust.

I worked with this property for 7yrs and have really enjoyed working here. The management is very supportive and open to hearing your quarries. The wages are competitive with other competing hotels around.
