If you wanted to work for a pottery studio, look somewhere else. This store is so poorly run.

Paychecks are hand delivered and never on time, and you are still deducted 30 minutes from your payment despite the fact we're not allowed any breaks. If something in the store malfunctions or a supply runs out it's incredibly hard to get a hold of anyone capable of fixing the issue, and nothing is ever fixed on time either.

We only have one manager for all locations, and while they do a great job, that's just not enough. We do not hire full time, and aside from getting 50% off pottery and occasional tips from customers we do not receive any benefits.

Except on weekends you will be working alone, and that would be fine if there was better communication between the staff. Any new policies or events happening in our store is told through e-mail. More often than not that information comes too late or in three separate e-mails, which makes it too messy for anyone to follow properly. Due to this we get a lot of confused  or angry customers because they've been told different things from every location.

The only positive thing I can say about this store is that the hours are flexible and great for anyone who is either working to jobs or is in school/have social obligations.

A typical day at work is showing up a few minutes early to get settled. It also requires taking good care of customers and showing excellent customer service no matter the situation. I usually worked 8 hour shifts alone and would be responsible for taking care of customers, cleaning, glazing and firing of finished works, unloading and bagging finished work from the kiln. I learned a lot about the operation of the kiln, about painting and glazing work. Management is not the best. There tends to always be scheduling conflicts no matter how many times you give them your school schedule. Though they are very accommodating to work around your schedule if issues to arise. The flexibility was a strong point for me as I am a student with a changing schedule and my family lives in a different city. The flexibility allowed me to take lots of time to get back to my family and time to go to school and get school work completed. The hardest part of the job is definitely the lack of a team environment. Most times I work alone so it is obviously hard to create relationships with coworkers. When i did get the opportunity to work with others it was not a fun environment and I tended to be ignored which made it really hard to enjoy what i was doing.

Working here was rather enjoyable and the daily tasks were very easy. But management would change the work schedule last minute, sometimes you will have no shifts for the week, and the manager would always complain about little things even if they didn’t happen. The store was always running out of supplies and things like lights and the AC would be fixed months after it broke. Great job but terrible management.

Color Me Mine is the leader in the contemporary ceramics industry. Each location is an upscale art-as-entertainment studio offering unfinished ceramics and other craft media. Customers enter a relaxing environment, choose one of 400 unfinished pieces, and spend an hour or two painting it to express their own vision. Ceramic pieces are left to be glazed and fired, then picked up later.

This job is great for people who are looking for an introductory job, and for people with little to no work experience. The staff are nice, the mangement is nice, the store owner could be more organized with pay days and communication with employees, but overall a fun work environment with a lot of knowledge and experience to gain from it.

The Job in the beginning was ok, I was expected to know 110% of everything and be able to work by myself after 5 days with little to no training.
It was a lot of fun when I was the only employee, but once a second and third employee was hired, I suddenly became a target.
Owner is very inconsistent with communication. 
Favoritism was a big thing at this location.

Do not work at the Lethbridge location. Honestly the owner has no idea how to run a business, lies to customers, and treats the staff horribly.  She breaks labour laws as well. All of the staff have left since she took over ownership, as well as the staff she hired herself.

It was a good summer job. Training was provided by well experienced staff. The hardest part about the job was probably having to balance working with parties while also attending the clients in the front. 

Being able to connect with customers is what really makes this job great! Co workers are friendly and easy to get along with. I was nervous about the tasks at first, but after training, I got the hang of everything.

hours are kinda bad but overall great place to work. it’s fun to see what everyone creates and seeing how happy they are to pick up their pieces. wish i could paint on job tho haha
