was introduced to time-sheet based invoicing of engineers hours and expenses. Learned to balance and reconcile work in process. Looked after client billing meeting tight deadlines, worked with clients to get our collection time reduced, paid all supplier bills in a timely manner. Reconciled accounts (incl banks), prepared month/year end reports, implemented new accounting system before deadline. Had a great rapport with my co-workers, especially the person working in payroll, who trained me on her job to be her back-up. The hardest part was that the work load increased tremendously based on the rapid growth of the company and it took a while till someone else was hired to take over accounts payable. On the other hand it was a great learning experience for me and I excelled in many areas which was appreciated very much by management.

I have several position at Cold - Helpdesk, Desktop Support and Asset Management. A typical days would taking look at the Helpdesk queue for urgent matter and prioritizing the request. Over the year management change as we were bought out by WorleyParsons, they went to a Local - Global model and it seems that your career with the company was no longer a concern for management. This was probably the toughest part of the job. The enjoyable part was back in the old days where we would have team building and there was a career path and management cared.

Colt Engineering was a proud Alberta engineering company formed in the late seventies and grown into one of the most successful Canadian engineering companies.
The culture was that of o family operation, people enjoyed being part of the team.
The Poly project was very challenging. The polyethylene technology was brand-new and innovative. Developed in Sarnia, ON.
Machinery was huge and the process was difficult to control and operate.
The I&C team was exceptional.

Mgmt did not walk their talk when it came to supporting Contract Administration; would recognize incongruities but maintain their own cognitions!  In this I would rate them very Poor!

Good working environment with healthy work/life balance, many opportunities to collaborate with the other disciplines and teams

I started my career here and was given some great opportunities for growth and improvement.  There was a variety of clients and projects.  I appreciated the learning.

Good company to work on contract with. Fair wages and benefits. Good site working conditions and good office support to field engineers.

Was an enjoyable place to work in the late 90s early 2000s.  Unfortunately like all things anything that made money in that time was sold and incorporated into something global


Productive environment.  
Workforce was experienced in diverse Engineering projects.

Colt was an Icon in the industry to work at. The culture was great, the people were great to work with. Project management was excellent.All in all a great place to work
