A typical day at work involves utilizing critical thinking skills, and quality resident care, while demonstrating effective communication with residents, family and relevant stakeholders. 

I have learned to be an effective team player, and can demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills.

Managing difficult situations as they arise, utilizing effective problem solving with discretion and tact.

Workplace culture requires the ability to communicate in an effective manor that fosters effective conflict resolution in an assertive manor that aims to produce a win-win situation.

The most difficult part of the job is to ensure we health care providers, continue to maintain our own physical and mental heath each and every day. Effective self care gives rise to a rich life, both in the workplace, and at home.

The most enjoyable part of the job is to deliver quality client care, in a professional and timely manor, while continuing to learn and grow.

Amazing clients and most co-workers are great. Really rewarding to see the difference you can make to someone else's day.
It's a not-for-profit organization, which is nice as well. Some office staff (payroll, benefits, etc...) and managers are enjoyable to interact with. 
Leadership tries to have different team-building activities and opportunities for the teams to get together (they are located in different spots in BC, so don't work together all the time), which was nice to be able to put faces to names.
Biggest issue was how unprofessional the hr team is, and leadership/management can be. They re-hire people who have proven themselves to be unreliable and who bring drama to the team and clients. They take opportunities away from staff they disagree with. Their communication to staff can be curt and dismissive.

In my position as a manager with Communitas, I have been able to  establish respectful  relationships to provide the foundations to successfully support people affected by mental illness. 
I was trained to always use a person centered approach  that prioritizes the persons rights and assists them to make decisions to direct their own recovery. 
I work with a dynamic team that supports  me  and treats  me as an individual. Communitas  values  me and challenges me to be the best I can be and supports me through challenging seasons and rejoices  along with me the seasons that re are easier.  Communitas is gifted as an organization  to recognize peoples strengths and gifts and  works diligently to ensure that they work along side their staff

My work day was centred on cooking, cleaning, inspecting units to make sure they were clean and tidy and supporting those efforts. The other part of my job was communicating behaviours and incidences to staff and manager. The hardest part of my job was keeping up to all the expectational changes that were ocurring, which made it more difficault to serve the clients' needs and relationships. My fovourite part of my job was building relationship with individuals' served.

Communitas is an outstanding organization to work for. It is an organization that values people, respects them and puts them first. Every single person that works for Communitas genuinely cares for each other and the individuals that we have the honor of serving. This starts from the top of the organization with the executive team. They model what it is to be a kind and servant hearted individual on a daily basis. From their excellent leadership, these values are passed down and can be seen in every area and position of the company. Each day I learn how to make a difference in the lives of others. It is an honor and blessing to work for Communitas.

My coworkers and the support and encouragement they give me.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Unqualified, abusive, power-tripping managers & supervisors, and their unjust tyranny & breach of ethics and policies.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's pretty special - it's the people who make the culture!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy, hectic, overworked in an unfair and unsafe work environment.

I am shocked that they call themselves a Christian organization as many of the support workers and managers are not christians or reflect that at all at work.  Where i worked i found at my home a lot of disharmony and the team not working together.  I find the rotation shifts does not allow you to have a balanced life, if there is a shortage of shifts regular staff are working extra shifts, burnt out and sometimes you do not get your vacation approved because of lack of staff.

i enjoyed working at the home i worked in. the clients were very loving and I enjoyed the job.
The change in policies for casuals and forcing them to give up every weekend and holiday in order to keep their job i found was not fair, and not a good way to keep on casual staff. high staff turn over, and management change made it hard to keep the home fully staffed and safe for the clients and staff. 
Even staff that have a line, don't always get time off approved. 
Communitas did offer some learning programs, but were not offered to all staff.
