Working at Compass has never been boring. I've had the pleasure of working with multiple groups throughout the company in both Canada and the United States, where my contributions have been valued and sought after. I have been with the company for 5 years and still feel as though I am able to learn more from the company and my colleagues, while having the ability to continue my personal development. The overall culture at Compass has been one of collaboration and support. The people I have the privilege of working with are some of the best in the industry and actively demonstrate a desire for developing good working relationships with one another. One of the amazing things I enjoy is that there is a genuine care for others. As an example, unfortunate events can happen in life and Compass has a habit of reaching out to that person and their family with a care package to help reduce the burden that these situations can create. On the job, there is an obvious dedication to keeping people safe and ensuring their well-being. But let's be honest, there are always challenges at every company and this is true with Compass. There can be disagreements, lack of communication, and times when things don't go as planned. But the thing that I find special is that these challenges are often addressed with a team mentality, using communication to find a path forward. The workload for the most part is manageable but as with any company or occupation, when there's an increase in activity, there can also be an increase in work responsibilities which can result in stress. This can be the hardest part of the job when work responsibilities exceed available time but they still have a deadline. But on the flip side, the best part of this job is working with the people I do. From personnel in the office, to those on the shop floor or within field services, we work hard and we try to work together. On days where you may not particularly feel like going to work, you get up and do it for those you work with.

In my experience, workplace dynamics can sometimes present challenges that require careful navigation, especially for younger employees. Often, managers (depend on the dep. ) may take undue credit for the contributions of junior team members. It is important to be vigilant and assertive to ensure that one's work and achievements are properly recognized.

Additionally, maintaining a professional distance with management can be prudent. While managers may appear friendly, it is wise to be cautious, as some have a tendency to engage in gossip behind closed doors and may present a different demeanor when approached for assistance or discussing the salary aka ask for raise.

A key lesson I have learned is the importance of obtaining written confirmation for any significant verbal instructions, especially from managers. Following up with an email can provide a documented record and help prevent potential misunderstandings or denials of previous discussions should any issues arise. I would recommend bringing your own coffee to the office. The quality of the company provided coffee leaves is not drinkable.

Huge workloads are put upon employees without the proper compensation. They try to get away with finding employees with a ton of experience and paying them at entry levels.
If you dare say anything or try to express any concerns with management or HR, you are ignored and they will look for ways to terminate you. RUN THE OTHER WAY! 
I worked there for almost 5 years (which is the shortest time I have ever worked for a company) and no one would listen when expressing the workload I had was too much. They wouldn’t even try to work with me in the least.
Any other job I have had my entire live lived me and my work ethic. Especially the skill set I had brought to each one but not this company. They are very very greedy and toxic. 

Bluntly this place is a mess. Their shop is very poorly laid out. It's very congested all the time, with no organization. Very little planning goes into assembly. They generally don't focus on what needs to be done first and just do the easy stuff first making the hard stuff even harder, which they leave for the nightshift. 

The housekeeping is very poor, a lot of the guys don't clean up after themselves leaving parts, tools, and junk all over the skids causing all sorts of hazards and damaging parts. 

Despite having an actual change over from days to nights communication is very poor, and nights typically gets left with the stuff days doesn't want to do. 

Moral over all is low, they're losing people left and right, but stubbornly refuse to accept that they have issues than need to be fixed. 

The management is the least experienced and least professional I have encountered in my entire career of ten years. They had eight lost time accidents during my short time there and lost multiple contracts. They don’t follow industry standards and wonder why they have accidents. I had to refuse unsafe work for the first time in my life. They completely ignored my concerns and had an apprentice do it instead. I got dirty looks constantly until they let me go a month later. I am genuinely concerned that someone is going to get killed at this place because of their childish attitude and inexperienced tradesmen.

In my experience, the work environment is quite toxic, and it appears to be more suitable for older men. The management is significantly disconnected from the day-to-day operations, which negatively impacts the workplace culture. Despite the excellent dental and medical benefits, the overall atmosphere is marred by excessive bullying and blame-shifting, particularly towards employees who are not within the management's inner circle.

Given my experience, I would not recommend this company to my close friends. If I had known the reality of the work environment, I would not have invested my time here.

I have been at Compass just over 2 years in finance and every day I enjoy coming into work. My coworkers are friendly, the environment is welcoming and we play as hard as we work. You can tell Management works hard to ensure employees feel appreciated even while the company continues to grow. The hours are reasonable, overtime isn't expected and I feel supported while at work by both management and coworkers. While I have been here there's been opportunity for personal growth and projects to work on outside of my every day tasks which prevents things from getting stale. 

The management at this company appears to be toxic, lacking direction and oppressing employees by overworking them and frequently vacationing. A negative culture prevails, characterized by managers with inflated egos who work from home but disapprove of others doing the same. Those who are not part of their inner circle are blacklisted and unfairly targeted for criticism, resembling high school bullies. Additionally, they tend to shift blame onto vulnerable employees rather than holding their close friends accountable. 

If you come here with prior experience it wouldn’t be too bad, but if you’re fresh out of school or just wanting to start a career as a welder, this is an awful place to learn. It doesn’t matter if you’re a labourer or a third year, apprentices simply won’t advance or learn much of value to help in their careers and will be kept doing the same tasks while apprentices of all other trades learn the skills they need.Any request to learn new skills is met with a reassuring lie to keep your hopes up.

Apprentices be aware. When you goto school there’s a high possibility you won’t be hired back. 
Your position at compass is never secure. Working 10-12’s for a couple months then you’ll get laid off or let go. 
Unorganized, so many guys in the shop they’re always tripping over one another. Foremans won’t work with one another, extreme lack of communication. 
When they get really busy they hire tons of extra guys for a few months then will be fired/laid off.
