A work environment that is extremely busy, where management is constantly breathing down your neck to get more done.

The pay scale is not the greatest. They classify everyone in the warehouse as forklift operators, when the classification should be based off of what you do,  and the pay should match. If you look at other Cold Storage companies, their freezer order pickers are paid well above top rate at this company.

Safe work environment does not exist at this company. From Dock Restraints that have never worked, to aging forklifts that are not being maintained and a maintenance department of a few workers that don't get alot done on a daily basis, you begin to feel like you're risking your life every time you step into the aging building.

Management is poor. Rotating door on the upper levels, the wrong people being promoted into positions of authority, and a general lack of respect. There are 2 sets of rules for warehouse workers. For the ones who brown nose with the supervisors, they can get away with anything. For those that don't brown nose, bring a saddle with you to work, because you will be ridden like a work horse.

The hardest parts of working for this company are the varying temperature zones, never seeing a raise, and management that has the "next man up" attitude when you burn out from stress.

Most enjoyable part of this job is going home at the end of a shift.

Terrible Leadership IceCream Leadhand is not professional very disrespectful person and a bully to the employees. I worked there 4 years as a order picker. Evening Lead hand is not qualified for his position upper management doesn’t see how bad things are and unsafe it’s run. Worst warehouse in Winnipeg. Working in -25 freezer and getting told your not able to warm up for a couple mins or not given proper gloves to work in the cold environment is harsh. Certain employees get away with a lot but if your a hard worker you get treated the worst but the floaters get to float every day and upper management is blind to it. Upper management needs to wake up and HR needs to do a better job. Terrible experience dealing with her not very professional either. Also very dangerous warehouse to work there is no safety protocols I would witness a near miss most of my days and it would not be written up. I would witness accidents and nothing would happen not even writing it up. What a joke. Avoid!

Money is ok but not worth the unsafe environment, long hours working in a freezer, having your supervisor pressuring you to work over time everyday because they are poorly staff and can't keep up with the work load. their equipment is out date it and poorly maintained, there is not enough machines for the amount of employees they have. THERE IS NO SAFETY AT CONGEBEC. They will lie to your face and tell you what you want to hear but when is time for them to deliver on their promises, they go back on their word. So a word of caution. DO NOT WORK THERE. unless you have no life outside the work place and are willing to give your all, for a company that won't think twice about using you and kick you to the curve when your are no longer useful.  Is sad this used to be a great place to work with lots of good people, too bad it turn into this.

Working at Congebec was a good experience for me overall. It helped me learn a lot about logistics, operations, and how to manage responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The team was supportive, and I had the opportunity to work with different departments, which helped me grow professionally and improve my communication skills.

The work-life balance was generally good, although during busy periods the workload could increase and require more focus and time. However, this also helped me become more organized and efficient in my daily tasks.

Management was approachable, and I felt comfortable asking questions or looking for guidance when needed. The company also values teamwork, which made the environment more positive and collaborative.

Overall, I would recommend Congebec to someone looking to gain experience and develop skills in a structured and dynamic workplace environment.

This job helped launch my career, one day the boss said, "you know how to use the computer right?", and thus I became a dispatcher out of necessity for the business. 

Hardest part of the job, work is often behind, no clear priorities outside of keep the highest paying customers happiest.

Once you reach the right level, head office management(Quebec) is totally awesome.  When they are in town they will treat you like gold.  
Head of Transportation (Toronto), is such an amazing person to work with. 
The two Winnipeg drivers, bests dudes ever.

Fast increase in wages, and good benefits plan + paid days off

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
High traffic areas in confined spaces, reverse steer forklifts caused shoulder pain after awhile

Positive safety oriented, controlled, fast paced, productive 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Most times when its busy its go go, and also multi tasking in other areas that need to be completed when necessary. Day in day out procedures as usual in a big warehouse.

Hired through a hiring firm as a general labourer. Was filling trucks with product (frozen meat), could get very heavy but not a huge deal. There was not a specific hourly amount you had to get done, but the trucks had to be finished or almost finished by the end of the day. Job was easy if you are somewhat strong. But it was very co-worker dependent, if the other labourer or the loader you were with for the day was slow, then you were dragged down a bit. We could also leave when work was finished, they usually gave you something else to do if we were done very quickly. Was nice for work life balance, but my pay-cheques suffered a bit. 

Poor management, small company.
Benefits lacking, company systems are in need of a necessary upgrade as they are behind every other competitor. 
Starting wage is very nice but is almost immediately capped.
Lacking in customers makes the company drop to skeleton crews and force workers to pick up the slack for 4 missing crew members.

Terrible vacation time and allowance for medical time off , strict on everything unless you are friends with management higher ups

This place is horrible to work for. The management is abysmal and the training is non existent. I was told to work on machines with no training and if I refused they threatened to fire me. I needed to feed my kids. The workload is heavy and I was always told to work faster. Never appreciated anything.

I enjoy the work I do. It is challenging, rewarding and I feel I am in charge of my own destiny. 

My direct report is a great mentor - he remains calm even in the craziest of storms and that is helpful to me. 

I feel I am contributing to the overall success of the company and that is an important factor to my day to day operation.
