the job was interesting doing all aspects of the sewer and water for new and existing water/sewer lines. I learned something new almost everyday. The guys were easy to get along with and I enjoyed taking and working with everyone of them. I made a lot of friends . I would encourage anyone who likes this type of work to try them out. There is room for advancement if you put in your time. Management could use a little bit more communication with the workers but over all ok.The day would start out with a backhoe digging a hole where the pipe would be put in, the pipe had to have proper grade on it for the water/sewer to flow. There are different types of valves to be put in for cutting off the flow.The hardest part of the job would be when you had to manually shovel wet mud to make room for the pipe or valve. Even though I was the truck driver supplying sand and moving mud I was always out of the truck helping the guys on the crew.

A typical day at work was to evaluate the job at hand and make it happpen.i learnt different ways of doing jobs that i thought were to be done in way only. The management was fair and the work culture was excellent. It had a very safe work culture and working safely would make sure the work got done and correctly. The hours were long and exhausting at times. The most enjoyable part of my job was seeing all the guys and our family style repor. Finishing the job and being able to be proud of the finished job,

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working at this company is it keeps you in full-time work throughout late in the season. Also as an added bonus they contribute some funds towards your fuel bill.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It depends on the job but the most stressful part would be standing for long periods of time.

The work environment is good. Cox construction is known for keeping their employees.

Night time as well daytime traffic 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Awsome people to work with, very professional 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy day us a good day weather traffic control or a lead escort vehicle, to guide traffic through work site at a safe speed while the brothers are working in live traffic while laying asphalt in the opposite lane.

This is a great company for people who like long days, I have the opportunity to get overtime every single pay period during the construction season. The paving and grading crews are full of great people who will teach you everything they know, and really do try to set you up for success. Management is great to deal with, and health and safety is priority on the road and in the pits.  We work hard here, and we have fun doing it. 

My boss's boss and I didn't see eye to eye and even though no one had any issue with my work or any on my professional aspects, I was fired simply because a higher up didn't like me and gave his daughter a summer job.

Overall working at COX.CONST was easy going staff and management were easy to get along with and co-workers were great if they would take me back i would definitely work there again 

Most of the crews and superintendents are great.  Not so with upper management.   There has been so many management changes, nobody is secure in their position except two management. Long term is not in the future there.

after trench made by some sort of track or backhoe hooking up steel cages using big chains and placing inside trench so side walls don't  cave in on men working in them

Employees are not valued as much as they should be.  Money/salary could be better.  You get overlooked for advancement.  No job security.  Best part of the job is the employees working there....most of them are really nice.
