There is a lot of turnover for the field reps/ client service reps that audit the shops and conduct welder testing and procedure testing.  You are constantly short staffed and having to fill in for the vacant areas. The management seems to focus more on sales and marketing and forgets how important the field reps are. The pay does not match industry. You are better off  working in a fab shop as welder, fabricator, supervisor or QC over working at CWB as you will receive very little hands on inspection training working for them. If you want to be an inspector take some courses and join the union I wish I had done it sooner I spent to much time working for CWB and it slowed my career growth. You also drive your own car and put a lot of wear and tear on it the km amount they give you does not cover gas, maintenance and devaluation of your vehicle 

1. Absolutely no advancement/ growth opportunities. Company has a mouthful of lateral roles only to move around people and term these as “advancement”. In fact, you are stuck in the level you had joined. Company hires only outsiders in management positions. 
Also, the more you know about the business the less opportunity you will have here as the senior management will consider you as a threat.
2. Extremely terrible pay. Beyond comparison, just remember, you are literally paid 25-40% less than your worth in this company. And the sorry part is, it will not go up. Annual performance bonus is a joke, may not be even half of your biweekly paycheque. 
3. Inept senior management team, more keen on personal gains than the future of the company. Needs a complete overhaul.

Then who are working here? Folks with issues and got stuck, cannot move easily for various reasons, e.g. family, kid’s school etc. And a significant number of employees are simply waiting for their retirement.

I have a lot to say about how terrible I was treated here. I've been gone for 3 months and it still bothers me. My manager that was supposed to train me barely did that and then of course it reflected bad on me and then I lost my job because he didn't do his. I was only there for 3 months. He also said that after i visited my customers, to go home and work even if it was later at night. 
Micromanagement is another issue. He wanted to know exactly what i was doing everyday and then call me while I was at customer sites. My job was to go see customers, yet, he told me doing face-to-face was a waste of time.

Enjoyed my time here. Learned a lot, met great people, travel for work, every day something a bit different. They offer room for advancement or even lateral moves to try something new. Working for the CWB opens a lot of doors else where if you ever leave.
If you do your work you will not be micromanaged and actually left to do your job and make of it what you like.
Overall, a good experience with ok pay and great rrsp.

Horrible experience, the staff was always annoyed when I had questions or wanted to confirm something before carry it out.
Was fearful to even ask to use the bathroom to the point where I ended up with my woman cycle seeping through my clothing and onto the chair I was placed at. No understanding at all and way too high of expectations. Very lonely and cast out energy in the atmosphere. They always acted caddy and with a higher archey type value. 

You are expected to go over and above but never receive adequate pay, recognition, help, instruction, or management to allow you to succeed. Management has no idea and doesn't care to know how day to day works/time it takes to complete tasks, just expects it to be completed in an unrealistic timeframe. They also pick favorites and stir the pot based on their mood. There is no room for advancement and the pay for what is expected is very low.
Aside from management there is collaboration and teamwork amongst departments and a real sense of comradery. 

If you have ambitions in the welding industry this is not the place for you. The pay is bad, really bad. The hours and work load are crazy at times. No understanding of work/life balance. Cuts to benefits. 
Too many people who know virtually nothing about the act of welding and then pretend they know it all. And watch your back. People in this company love to see others get canned.

Work is mostly administration and regulatory work; codes and standards, the certification of individuals, companies and products. Most roles are remote - on-site welder and shop certification. Also has other business lines and departments that may be of interest (Sales, Engineering, Training, Auditing). Great office environment for those hired at HQ.

The girl at the front watches TV while dealing with clients,
the management favors some employees and chastises others, seem to be very out of touch with what the company actually looks like to the general public. 
So many inspectors out there, where are they inspecting with all the welders out of work?

It was a nightmare working for this company. They promise the world and never deliver. There are so many examples I can provide but here are a few. 
-Management only cares about meeting quotas 
-IT department have no idea what they are doing. IT management will not provide any direction and expect the world from you.
-Stay far away.
