The work environment is terrible. They will cut your hours even if you are a good employee just because they want to feel the power of suppressing their employees. 

My city garbage cleaning job had a much better work environment and my supervisors made me feel secure and valued there.

But at Dao, you will be pushed around and played with. They add you to a WhatsApp group and scold the employees over text messages whenever they want, for trivial reasons. And you're expected to respond immediately even if its not your fault, or they'll scold you for that as well. They send group messages even at MIDNIGHT with no respect for their employees' personal time. 

Please don't fall into their trap of fake kindness because it will eat you up. You will be considered just as an easily replaceable commodity. The new manager will yell at you and micromanage you to your breaking point. 

I feel strongly that it is my responsibility to warn others like me who are just looking for a means of living to avoid this place at all costs.

They would release the new schedule at late Sunday night, expect you to wait for it before showing up on time the next morning.

They would give you minimum training. Every one should learn everything by themselves. You will not be appreciated even if you do your job well. They expect you to work extra, wait for the manager to show up ‘fashionably late’ for 30 minutes. You will be judged even if you have done everything correctly, just because the manager doesn’t like you.

As an owner doing business for more than a decade, owning this cafe and some other well-known boba tea stores in town, the way they do their business is to simply not care. You will have to hear how they say mean things about the staff who quitted, blaming everything onto them and try to pretend to be the ‘good person’. But you will soon be another person who got backstabbed by them in front of other current employees.

They’re firing a staff on the spot by removing you to their group company chat and removing your schedules from push. There’s no such thing as warning letters from them. Staffs whoever leaves there are feeling so relieved that they’ve found a more better jobs than this company. Feels terrible for those new employees who desperately needs job and so for those staff working as a LMIA under from them as they paid this company, and they cannot leave as this company have promising something before but when the staff got a near permit expire, this company will forgets you already. Some staff are back stabbers as they called themselves a supervisors and managers but it can justified that they’re not even well professional and well experienced. This company is a blood suckers!

From past reviews, it seems that the environment was extremely toxic. I have yet to experience that personally, which shows how hard they worked to change it, but that may be because all of the toxicity is focused now at the Innes location. It seems that sometimes the owners and managers act out of anger rather than on rational thought. They are smart and hardworking people though, so the success isn't just from luck. The bakers now are so kind and sweet and so are the baristas and FOH workers. But for how busy we can be + the small behind the Scenes things we do, we are quite understaffed and underpayed by a few dollars. The owners, managers, and supervisors do a lot, which is very much appreciated!!

The truth is employees here are sad and have been treated very badly. Every single week people either fired or quit, can't stand for the manager's temper and unacceptable requests.

Terminate people by text, and immediately affect the day.
No training for newcomers and yelling people who just come here have seen some of the employees cry.

To people who just come to Canada and desperate want a job. You have so many options out there better than this one. Go for Giant tiger,Loblaws, food basics. They will respect you as one of them. Not like this place.

management put in all kinds of rules to regulate your every move, they will watch you from the security camera at all times, nitpick everything you do. 

90% people worked here either quit or got fired within a month. if you want to spend time applying, interviewing, learning the skills for this job, only to work at Dao for a month and restart the job searching process again, you should totally apply.  

My advice to job seekers is that you should only work here if you are desperate, like you can’t find anything anywhere else for the time being, I’ve been there, we all have bills to pay after all. But even if you do end up working here, you should not stop looking for other jobs, always be prepared to leave, because that day might come sooner than you think, either they fire you by text all of a sudden, or you just decide you are fed up. 

Your employer will watch your every move with omnipresent surveillance, you won't get any reward when you are crazy busy, and you will be blamed when you have little free time to chat with your colleagues. Working here, you just have to imagine yourself as a robot on an assembly line.
In addition, the half-hour break during work is unpaid.

I’m sure other comments are sufficient to give job seekers an idea of how this work place looks like. But from my share of the conversation, I’d strongly recommend to consider other companies before deciding to join this “team(?)”

You can get fired anytime without any notice and for any silly reason. They expect the employees to know the entire work from the very first week with minimum training. All the breaks will be unpaid :) They'll make you do extra work which isn't even your duty because they have a staff shortage. Not recommended at all!
