Beggars can’t be choosers and that describes the situation for most employees. More than half of staff has been turned over during the past year. It’s gotten to the point where recruiters at other firms keep asking me whats happening at DBRS?? Why are there so many applicants from your company? 

Management has no clue what they’re doing and since the company was bought out by new ownership, they have limited oversight. An internal survey showed how dissatisfied people were and how low morale was but still no changes. The CEO and head of Canada are basically in retirement mode have no reason to rock the boat or make any other changes.

Average age in the company is below 30 years of age. Inexperience management. Chaotic environment. Overly stressful without obvious reason. 

You don't get any feedback about your work. Sometimes I feel like I'm just a furniture or inventory over there. I am looking for another job.

Office environment is not bad. I like location, easy access via subway. 

Colleagues are very polite. People don't have time to socialize, but they are very nice when you talk to them in the kitchen or elevator.

 If it's not that chaotic I'd stay here only for people

a typical day at work: producing credit ratings

what you learned: not much in terms of knowledge, but that places like this still exist, despite poor record keeping, minimal adherence to procedures 

management: non transparent, non professional, understanding

your co-workers: jaded, trying to get out

the hardest part of the job: dealing with management

the most enjoyable part of the job: variety, flexibility, non bureaucratic organization generally

I worked here on contract. Terrible place got let go for no reason I get im contract but at least give some respect. I did not get good training and thrown into piles of work expected to perform and meet targets. The VP i helped was manipulative and lazy. I wanted to learn and asked questions plus im new but gave me attitude.

Its a toxic place I would NOT recommend working there.

Work is very analytical, work life balance is good, lot of client exposure and opportunity to grow skills in credit research, financial modelling and legal document analysis plus presentation and public speaking skills

Great company. Enjoyed going to work everyday. Good communication with management and peers. good work ethic and values established within the company.

It was my first intern experience there so did not know what to expect. Had exposure to various industries and was involved in new project and updating report.

Generally a very friendly team of BD & Marketing professionals. I think there is some micromanagement tendencies but nothing too over the top. Great internship experience.
