What is the best part of working at the company?
The management is really great. The safety precautions are excellent. Which helps us lead to a better working environment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When co-workers can’t cooperate with their mates, having extreme work load.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company looks forward for better people with  good attitude. The employees are very helpful.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Whenever it’s snowy it’s hard for me to weld because I need to do hooding and perform quality welding in such severe weather.

Management seemed fine, decent organization, good work, shop foreman is a complete moron. 
Asked for days for information regarding torque specs, finally days later after pestering for an answer he gives me an incorrect value, WAY out to lunch. Felt horrifically under appreciated, refused to get proper materials for the job (was told to use incorrect gaskets because we didn’t have the proper size/rating), incredibly passive aggressive, avoided me as much as possible, straight up bad at his job. 
Walked out on him, stressed me out. He’s the guy you will wind up working for. 
This is at their Sherwood Park shop. 

I don't think I would recommend this company, worked there one week before layoffs were already planned. I was up in Fort Mac for one week before myself and a group of others were already scheduled to be "layed off". It's a ton of paperwork and everything else to be employed by them for such a short term. I see like much of other fort max contractors, their MO is to hire and lay off people. I planned on being with them for the long term, yet at the end of my short contract, they already knew that was the end, so what's the point in reality?

Excellent management  foreman’s and supervisors were very knowledgeable and were always available 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I don’t recall having much stress excellent work environment 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Safety culture to the max work environment was good no stress 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
10 hour days and the shift was 10 days so it wasn’t stressful and you weren’t getting burnt out

Typical day at work for me was to schedule training for 100-500 employee's based on how many different contracts we had on the go.  Maintain the training matrix, enter and file all training records into company system and then into employee files.
Management were great to deal with, any issues I had were resolved immediately.
I worked with a great group of people, if I had questions they were always there to help and explain what I needed to know.  
I loved the social aspect of the job with the other employee's and how I had new challenges almost on a daily basis.

Very face paced, busy environment. Most of the management team work together like a family and treat the employees with respect and professionalism. As with many companies there are exceptions but overall I worked for them for 6 years and had minimal issues regarding staff. Hardest part of the job was peak hiring time getting all employees on boarded and settled into their respective roles. Most enjoyable part of the job was meeting so many new people and making lifetime friendships along the way.

During my time with DCM we completed various projects. The success was due to great team players and excellent management. These projects finished on time and budget because of how well we all worked together. My day would consist of various forms being filled out and being out it the field to supervise field activities were meeting Code regulation and client specifications. The most enjoyable part of my job is when the project is completed and the client is pleased with the overall quality of the project and turnover packages.

Upper management was in bed with the client and our union. Inflation rose and our wages continually went down. They cut manpower and resources and expected more production. Morale is terrible there. I was at the horizon site and I literally didn’t know a single person below the superintendents that wasn’t looking for work elsewhere. 

DCM was one of the best companies that I've worked for. Even starting out with no planning experience, they took me in based on my relative work experience and I fit right in instantly. Everyone was friendly, easy to talk to and it was enjoyable to go to work. The pay was great, hours were great.

Other than that, management does not share vision with employees to empower them; very seclusive. Old Staff hanging on to their jobs since 30-years. No advancement possibility. Discrimination against immigrants highly visible from 1st day of employment through demotion. unpleasant HR staff with racist mentality.
Herds of Quebec employees stay together, impossible to get inside circle.
