DEEP RIVER AND DISTRICT HOSPITAL

Due to poor management and excessive management this has become an oppressive work environment and will be looking elsewhere. They don’t reward loyalty and they don’t value experienced RN’s. The night shift is very poorly staffed and unsafe with only one RN in ER to deal with emergencies and codes. The other RN shares the 16 bed Medical unit with an RPN which has to also take care of the 14 bed long term care home that is only staffed with one PSW on nights. When code blues happen if the paramedics can’t stay to do compressions we have not enough people to run the code safely. We have 16 managers and front office staff for this small hospital which is excessive in my view. There is no hope of promotion and they don’t follow contracts and end up with many grievances and wasting money.

Deep River and District Hospital is a small rural hospital that has amazing workers throughout the building, as well as management. They strive hard to make the place a better experience for everyone. The ER is thorough and better than any surrounding hospitals. Wait time is low, and the attending physicians are extremely knowledgeable and effective with care. The Acute care medical side has hard working nurses who take excellent care of their clients. There are many resources available considering the small size. Located in the building is a wondering LTC home that is unbelievable. It is appropriately staffed to the point where every need is met to the fullest potential.

It sounds dramatic to say it, but you cannot trust management. Anyone who tries to advocate for better patient care will face consequences. Managers will actively try to manipulate other staff to work to get rid of the employees who won't fall in line. Several staff members are close with managers and text their personal phones. Managers do not care about what is happening on the front line. Best practice is not followed. Nobody is steering the ship, it's more like a shipwreck...

Only good thing I can say is it is more low key than working at a large hospital and some of the other staff are great!

Management is all about power instead of empowerment.  Middle managers are out of touch with the reality of front line work and hide in their office seeing how much more they can cut other positions.  Managers don’t take constructive criticism but would rather use it for revenge because they care more about their egos than they do the well being of the hospital.  It’s sad that such a nice little hospital is jeopardized by managers that are catapulted in my their family members.  

Small community hospital with dedicated staff who take ownership in their community and work. Run down by non-local executives who take pleasure in firing people. Lots of potential for learning. Zero potential for growth internally.

I don't advise anyone to work here, the manager and the HR could arrange me a proper interview, and did not respect me as a new employee. They mistreated me while I worked there. I don't advise anyone to apply to this hospital. The people there fired me unfairly.

Enjoyed working with client and all staff members. Challenging work environment that provided room for growth and autonomy. Educational opportunities provided by hospital for staff members.

Amazing place to work, extremely caring management, great communication beteeen all workers, great training program and extra education. Very focused on making a great community for residents and staff!

I have been at the hospital for a long time and have seen several administrations come and go. The current one is toxic. People who speak up against unfairness or challenge the CNO are quickly shown the door

Very busy. Always back up for issues if needed. Down to earth knowledgeable willing to help Mamagement. Co- workers very freindly like family. Your day goes very fast with the work status but worth every minute.
