Typical day starting out , you will pre-trip up to 5 vehicles before you find one that is roadworthy or everything works on it.  
 Bistrainer makes you do courses that aren't related to your job , and they will send you to do job that you've never done before with zero experience.  
Safety only matter when its convenient for them.  
Management is so unorganized they dont know if they are coming or going. They change their plans (and yours) multiple times a day . It just causes so much stress, not being able to properly prepare for the job at hand. 
 Multiple different cultures and cliques. If you aren't in their clique you will get all the c rappy jobs and be their donkey to do all the running here there and everywhere.  
Hardest part of working there is the headaches and the unorganization, broken equipment,  spending hours on end sitting in the drivers room waiting for the shop to fix anything. 
Most enjoyable part of this place is the odd person you meet and become good friends with.   
 Overall, its not a great place to work but it is a job and pays the bills.

The company has many ways to help you even if it comes to struggles in life such as losing a license the company will find ways to get you where you wanna be

I have not had many stressful times working with the company so far within my year here

It is absolutely amazing work environment and culture at this company 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is different for everyone at dexters as there are many different career paths here but a typical day for me is pretty straightforward right now I am operating a dynapac roller and also being a labourer when needed there is never any job to big or small here at dexters you just gotta put your mind too it and keep doing as your asked

Pick up time sheets from mail slot, sort time sheets for entry, enter hourly data for employees and machinery, make necessary phone calls to confirm incomplete or out of the ordinary data. Scan and fax time sheets for foremen's signatures. Print daily/weekly/bi-weekly reports as required and requested. Filing paperwork at the end of the day in proper file.

I learned time management skills and organizational skills. My co-workers were very helpful and easy to work with. The manager was very efficient at her position and was always available when I had questions.

The hardest part of the job was tracking down foremen that may be out a cell range to confirm hours. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with competent, experienced people that made the job go smoothly.

Dexters is a great place for young people looking to start careers to get into the construction industry. The pay is good and there are always advancement opportunities. Some manager are great while others don’t have the best people skills. Managers who accuse employees of wrongdoing or threaten to terminate them if they go to HR with concerns isn’t how a manager should act. Luckily not many of these managers work at dexters and the few that do may not be there forever. Overall Dexters will introduce you to the industry and once you are in the sky is the limit, the ever growing company gives employees so many opportunities to advance their careers or explore other departments!

A significant portion shares familial relationships, extending from management to field staff, contributing to a notably toxic workplace environment. Similarly the manner in which employees are treated lacks respect and professionalism. The workplace, schedule and pay rate varies on employee favoritism. Communication was often poor or dismissive with little to no support or training for new employees I met. Overall this organization feels unorganized, poorly managed and indifferent to the well being of it's staff. After 5 years I would not recommend Dexter Construction to anyone looking for a healthy and supportive career.

You are your own boss, you get your job info emailed to your phone.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When you have helped someone have a great day but you have no stress.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's great.... until they have started hiring younger people who have bad English which makes them harder to hear on the radio.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You get your job emailed to you and you just go with the info. It's a pretty easy job., until you have someone call there for a reference and get the wrong info.

Great place to work, Ive learned a lot of new things thus far working under some great guys who are very knowledgeable in the construction field. 
The guys i work under are very understanding when it comes to emergencies/family/appointments

The only downfall (and it’s not really a downfall) is we work long hours so very little family time during the week but this is what we signed up and asked for right? If we wanna work they will find us work 

Overall a great company and i am glad to finally get my foot in the door as a full time employee.

Worked as a Forman in the repair shop found after short time that the superintendent above me was playing favourites with the mechanics and was constantly antagonizing them as well as talking behind there backs . This was very prevalent and was uncalled for also had very bad attitude towards the labourers especially the French ones as well as the French mechanics . Tried to make the shop a fair place to work could not do it . Was constantly set up to fail by management and used as the scapegoat constantly.
Would not recommend a mechanic job to anyone at Dexter Moncton 

Toxic.  They hold a carrot for pay increase yet continue to push it.  Most superintendents are insanely good at their job, though they are managed by egotistical managers.  This division of the company has gotten a name for this.  If you are looking to progress in your career - do it elsewhere.  Safety is a requirement only while in public eye.  Company has fired 4-5 safety managers within a couple years for not following suit.  Pathetic. 

The shop works a rotating twelve hour shift of two days on, two days off, three days on, two days off, two days on, three days off over a two week period.  Or you could work nights 6PM to 6AM Mon. Tues. Wens. and Thursday.  You are expected to work your but off with no thanks and lots of criticism no mater the weather.  you can have a vacation but it frowned a pone and you will be layoff on the 23 of December every year for two -three months.
