My time at DHL has been very cool to say the most. The environment that management and the supervisors have created have been a fairly great overall experience and personally one of the best(as I’ve worked in a lot of warehouses). There were times where I was sick and I didn’t feel like my job was at stake, they have something called “labor share” which they implore you to visit other sites to see how they ran and possibly join as opportunities open up. There’s opportunities to learn new machines and help out in different ways. DHL has a very open dialogue and communication with its workers which I respect. Let’s say DHL Bridgestone isn’t the right fit for you then you can go on “StayWITHDHL” to find a new DHL to be with, so this isn’t the end all be all. The culture is great, as they do have puzzles, crosswords, golfing and other social outing that they do. Also they’re pretty big on safety especially since we deal with ya know…tires and the place is very clean so that’s a plus in my books. Everyone is cool except for a few apples but nonetheless DHL is a solid place

The CONS: 
1)The pay is your standard machine operator pay(but overtime is available….sometimes)
2) Within the entire 8 hours, you only get TWO breaks. Which is a 20 min & 10 
3)On these breaks you cannot leave the property, because they are paying for your entire 8 hrs so you must have skip the dishes or Uber eats 
4) inconsistent overtime


Overall DHL is a good place to work at , they do make you feel “seen” and do value your opinion as they also conduct surveys on how your work place is and that is rare. They almost do what they can to keep you. Especially if you’re a good worker. Personally I give it a 8/10

good morning to all 

A typical work for me was that I started at 7 am, I would check all of my Pars and see what merchandise was checked in the warehouse and I would request the pars and once released from Canada customs I would arrange my deliveries.   Then I would make sure that all my runs where ready for the morning and all trucks where loaded properly with correct merchandise.
After all of the morning and afternoon deliveries would be dispatched I would organize the runs to the airlines for my driver to pick-up in various warehouses. Then when the merchandise would be brought back to the warehouse it would be broken down and I would make sure that the manifest corresponded to the merchandise once that was done if there would be a pars to be requested I would submit it. Then I would generate the advice notes.
Every ½ the RNS system would be checked if there is anything that is released and dispatch the freight. Before dispatching the freight made sure that the address was correct and there was no special request for the delivery (tailgate, flatbed, appointments, hand bombing) and made sure that the pricing was correct for each delivery. 
Then during the day would be doing customer service, answering phone calls etc.
Then I would start my billing Bombardier and Pratt Whitney billing I had 24 hrs frame to do this billing.
Then I would generate the evening runs for the pickups at the airlines for the night shift.
And made sure that the runs would be ready for the morning after.

I was hired 06/01/2023 did a weeks worth of paper work and training just to be let go by 20/01/2023 for not being vaccinated, which doesn’t make sense since there’s a union in place supposedly, and all mandates are dropped provincially at this moment. So why is it still a requirement? I had on paper noted, I’m not vaccinated during the screening process and was still hired. The hire Ad did not include any details about required vaccines to work for dhl. 

The hiring agent gave me an ultimatum of getting the vaccine or immediate termination of employment, without questioning my health left me in compromised position. I told them, I’d make the appointment and take vaccine, but changed my mind after it was mentioned two doses were needed before I could return. Of course I refused because there’s no point at this moment. 

Now I must wait until the next pay cycle which is 10/02/23 to receive four days worth of pay, this is not okay. Training isn’t paid and pay stubs aren’t included when tracking payouts. Although I’ve seen tempers flare, majority of employees are cool but the environment could be better. If you like a rush then chill period type of job then it’s for you. Forget about breaks, they’ll work you so that they can meet their goal and so that part timers can leave at their respected times.. Just make sure you bring a book or something because you’ll need it. 

I have been working for DHL Express- Brampton for 5 months during my time there I've had some good and bad experience working there. Overall DHL as a company believes as long as they feed their employees with a few recreational events then everything okay. Its sad to say but during my training which was 6 weeks I believed that DHL was a very honest company who cares about their employees well being and how they are treated. Unfortunately that's not the case, because I personally have dealt with few supervisors who were unprofessional, demising towards their employees, racist, negative, and weren't willing to assist temp agents when help was need. Also they would not speak english around employees, yell while agents were on the phone, disrespectful and condescending.  Training was poor and hardly taught us anything useful when handling customers over the phone, most information was wrong and was corrected when we would make mistakes giving customers wrong information. They have the most unrealistic hiring procedures. So personally  I would not work for this company again I thought being a unionized company that once I was hired on  I would've been treated fairly. But from speaking with other employees and my own personal experience, DHL treat temp agents with no respect at all.

Upper management doesn’t provide training to any supervisors. The expectation is that you learn on the fly, which is hilarious because the expectations are so unrealistic from the beginning. Certain areas have more qualified employees than others which causes errors in the sorting process and puts unnecessary pressure and responsibility on the supervisors/team leaders. Management doesn’t seem to want to address the problem. Supervisors on multiple shifts contribute to a toxic workplace environment by negatively commenting on coworkers, and PM/AM Shift Managers fail to address the issue or respond to employees when they raise the issue. The company operates in an “escalation” system where issues are sent to direct reports of employees to ensure “discipline” is handed out. Facility Manager expects supervisors to attend meetings during the day regardless of their shift, which contributes to burnout of employees. DHL as a corporation responds to these reviews in a positive manner in order to save face, which I’m sure you will see below. For a company that is so big on mottos they sure didn’t get it “right the first time”. Always have a backup plan ready to go when working as a salaried employee for DHL, they will terminate you at any time without cause at their discretion.

A typical day at work for me involved answering over 60 inbound phone calls in a shift. I assisted customers with tracking their package and finding delivery solutions that worked best for them. I also helped to resovle any delivery issues and replied to general customer inquiries by email and telephone. I helped to created new and everlasting account customers to help generate revenue for the company. I learned all the many things that happen from the time you order your package to how it ends up at your front door as well as new customer service skills. My co- workers were all quite nice and extremely helpful. Management was a bit of a disappointment because they did not recognize all of the hard work we did on a daily basis. As well there was no employee appreciation. The hardest part of the job would be to listen to a customer tell you they urgently require their package within the same day and not being able to always get it to them on the same day. The most enjoyable part of the job would have to be having great and memorable conversations with customers.
