Firstly, I want to thank all the technicians who have made DT Equipment Repair the company that it is today. Our reputation has been built through their hard work and dedication to their trade.

The Heavy Equipment Technician trade is a very rewarding career, but it can be fraught with danger on the work site. I want to see all my technicians go home to their families at the end of their shift. DT Equipment Repair is committed to creating a safe work environment through the implementation of proper risk mitigation procedures. Nothing is more important than the safety of our technicians.

Our industry is full of talented people, and they all come to work to provide a brighter future for their families. I designed the compensation and benefits structure of DT Equipment Repair to do just that. I value honesty, loyalty and commitment from my technicians, and I strive to promote them based on that ethic. I expect my technicians to work hard and do their job well, but my personal belief is that their family comes first, and we are always there to help make sure that happens.

Booked days of overtime on a couple ovations and when I went to pick up my service truck both times it was half tore apart in the shop or booked to go in the next day, so grabbed a different truck that wasn’t on shift and went to the housing to sleep for work the next day, got a phone call about not taking trucks without telling anyone (it was midnight when I was picking the truck up) and then they said they forgot I had overtime booked. Truck are barely tooled or kitted up they want you to get everything from the client for kitting and if you ask for tooling 90% of the time you will get told it cost to much or you get a cheap similar item that doesn’t work the way you wanted. Other people will be using your tools and truck when you are on day off if their truck breaks down and everything is left a mess and disorganized from the way you left it. It’s a good stepping stone company but there are others that pay better and have some kind of structure to them. 

Management only comes around to see the employees they like the most. Hardly ever hear from them. Have to ask questions multiple times to get a response. They make you feel comfortable for the first few months then don’t hear from them, computers taken from trucks and given to the next new guy. Retention bonus only offered for new employees. Performance premium is paid based on how the management team sees your performance, not by how happy the client is. Your expected to supply most of your own tools for the truck. Your truck could be used by someone without you knowing it when your on days off, truck is a mess and disorganized when you get back. Requested tooling or kits and get told it’s on back order or it’s too expensive. Your expected to take cabs on your own dime for groceries and travel to and from airport. High turn around due to not being organized. There is much better companies that pay better and have much better benefits, it’s a entry level company to get your foot in the door.

Brand new Brutus Service Trucks, oversize and basic diagnostic tooling provided. Have to provide my own hand tools, but who wants to have a bunch of junk tools to work with when I have my own from years in the trade. I have the opportunity to work in various provinces and on everything from 797’s to Shovels.

Pay is great, OT after 8 hours and 40 hours with a high base that increases every year. Flexible rotation options. Tax free travel allowances.

From the moment I joined DT Equipment Repair, I felt like a valuable member of the team. Despite my limited industry-specific experience, they provided me with the opportunity to learn and grow. I guess they pay bit above average.
They expect you to bring your own tools however, stock the truck then days off remove them from a service truck and store for two weeks.
No camp provided and they should really mention they contract for mainly one company that everyone knows the manager of - and never a good review there.
Good potential just the mentioned areas is why they'll keep losing people 

DT is a great company to work for if you know what you’re doing.  The Operations manager is the best around. Extremely helpful and caring.  They will put  you to work as an embedded contract mechanic for a company and the rest is really up to you. They set you up with a well equipped truck. You can make it fun and enjoyable and succeed or make yourself miserable. Good pay,  good benefits, great travel allowance, Great people. 

Great place to work. The owner treat you like you’re one of the family.
Management always recognizes, putting an extra effort and hard work.
Never had to ask for a raise. It’s always been recognized and just offered for doing a good job and dedication.

This is really a small business atmosphere. DT Equipment will go out of their way to accommodate you. Work on the biggest equipment and learn from the best mechanics. In the field or in the shop, this is where you wanna be.
