DTS Technical

I worked at DTS for a period of over 5 years. I started as an AutoCAD tech, and worked up to the position of manager. At DTS my fellow co-workers (employees I managed) were truly exceptional. Each employee I worked with and interacted with on a daily basis were all amazing! A truly great group of people to say the least. Overall, I had a decent experience working at this company up until until the last 12-15 months in my former position.

Prior to going into that, for anyone applying here, as a former manager, I was privy to employees hourly wages. To say these are substandard is an understatement. Not only are most entry level positions severely underpaid, there is no structure to this. Each rate is decided up at random, pay raises are not consistent or equal. As a stepping stone, to gain experience, this company will suit your needs. As a long term career, it isn't sustainable at all.

Upper and senior management at this company is very poor. Ineffective and non-existent communication, dishonest approaches to daily work and a severe lack of leadership and support at this level, in addition to an extremely poor response to CVOID-19 are why I can not recommend working at this company. From ownership, there was only ONE piece of correspondence sent company wide, when most other companies owners were speaking to their employees regularly providing updates and reassurances in possible. At this company, there was essentially nothing. This was disappointing. 

This is a growing company with a lot of varied and interesting projects. It has a strong team environment where you can learn from your peers. Management is there to support you if you have issues and doesn't engage in micromanagement. 

Because of the nature of this industry (being a contractor for a major telecom company) there are times where the work slows down, and other times when there are lots of projects that you will have juggle. 

As your competency in the role improves you will start to work directly with the engineering and planning reps for the major telecom company. Some of these reps are very well organized and help make your job easier, others however, may cause you to re-do work, or re-visit a site, ie if ports are taken as there are many moving parts and many hands on these projects..

The company doesn't have a work from home policy, which may be an issue especially for those who don't live close to the head office. 

Also being a contractor as opposed to one of the big three telecom companies, it wont have the same benefits, ie no pension plan, stock options, or bonus pay. It does have employee group insurance however.

Implementation tech. This company pays very little for the skill and job at hand. Working in the Rogers Head ends one mistake and your fired as lots of customer are effected. They demand you to travel and use your personal vehicle. They have favourite techs! doing the same job with company vehicles! And force you to drive all over Ontario in your vehicle because you are not friends/family with the owner! $18/hr won’t ever see more.  The work hours are horrible once you learn how to cut over prepared to work 6am-3pm Monday then come back in 11pm Monday night for 12am-8am Cut over for no extra pay! Then back to 6am Wednesday! Very hard on the body and family

The DTS London office is a close knit team that works well together and feels very inclusive, even between departments.  Employees are always willing to help and foster a positive work environment. Management is always willing to listen to concerns or suggestions, while sometimes getting the necessary support can be slow it is usually  strong and effective once in place.  The most difficult part of the job is keeping up with the fast paced deadlines, however if you can work with short deadlines DTS London is a very good employer.

At DTS Technical I have never had the feeling of being ‘just a number.’ The camaraderie in the office between all levels of management and the employees creates an energetic work environment where one can easily create and share new ideas. DTS treats you like you are part of a family and genuinely care about your personal goals and career aspirations. DTS strives for a friendly, team-oriented atmosphere and provides a caring and supportive attitude to all employees that fosters internal and external growth if the opportunity is presented.

If you like being pushed to your limits and being treated like absolute garbage (unless you’re management) this place is perfect for you. If you like being underpaid and over worked you’ll love it. If your mentality is productivity over safety get on over there!

S**t company, They can fire you without any reason. Because Manager's mood is not good today.
Actually I've insulted "S**t" with compared to this company. 
Low salary plus you have to travell 100km a day with your own vehicle. 
I would give Minus 5 star instead of 1 to 5 star. Worst Management. First they will hire you with your desired pay. Later 2 or 3 weeks they will hire low salary range guy to replace your position. Once new guy will learn everything,  You will be fired right away without no F*****g reason

The work environment is one of work hard, play hard. Getting the job done right, in a timely manner while enjoying yourself is the main goal. The atmosphere is up beat and the quality of work is great. The office is growing quickly, which means there is lots of room for continuous learning, as well as the ability to expand the services that DTS can provide in South Western Ontario.

Best Ideal company to start your career in telecommunication world with really nice people surrounded you. You get really nice work environment with friendly management and monthly parties. Hardest part of job is to finish job with minimum information and short due dates but best part of job is you always get more support from your managers at every points to maintain your work/life balance.
