Stay away!!! I was hired on the spot with a phone interview that lasted 3 minutes which I should have clued in as a red flag. They initially told me "oh yeah we probably lost your original application and were hoping you would reapply." lol???? But hey, I needed a job.

Upper management is disgusting. No direction to store level employees (even store managers) they prioritize their favorite stores even though some might be busier than others. It's their way or the highway. They have multiple people doing jobs that NEED a designated affiliate. For example the HR persons are doing inventory.. ?? no?

You are constantly shorted on pay both hours and money totaled. 15/hour doesnt mean much when you work 80 hours and get paid for 65..

Food orders get "lost" mysteriously, or are full of errors. Some DMs (district managers) will have meetings with the store management and say things that SHOULD BE SAID PRIVATELY well within ear shot of the entire store.  Tell them you're danish, and you're guaranteed a management position. That show gross this company is. 

In the little period of time I was there we lost 6 people and no one was hired to replace them..? Not everyone wants to work 40 hours a week ffs. DO YOUR JOB.

The only reason I have given 2 2 star ratings is because 1) Free samples, if you make it out to look like you're going to sample something, just cut it in half and sample one piece, eat the rest!! 2) My manager was really awesome, she was just run into the ground by this stupid company

I strongly advise against applying or working for this company based on my experience as a Store Manager. I worked here for two years and encountered significant issues with the management and their treatment of employees.

During my tenure, I was required to travel to different stores to assist without any additional compensation for expenses such as gas. Despite my dedication and effort, I was abruptly placed on layoff in an unprofessional manner. The regional manager informed me of the layoff in a public setting, showing a lack of professionalism and respect.

Furthermore, the company has a history of terminating employees without notice, with approximately 15-20 terminations occurring within my two years of employment. This unstable work environment creates a sense of insecurity and uncertainty among employees.

Despite these negative aspects, the camaraderie among colleagues, including employees, assistant managers, and managers, was a positive aspect of working here. However, the dysfunctional upper management overshadows this positive aspect.

In conclusion, based on my personal experience and observations, I strongly recommend avoiding this company for employment opportunities. The issues with upper management and the lack of professionalism in handling employee matters make it an unfavorable workplace.



The store management and environment were fun, and the staff (depending on which locations) are super fun to work with. However there are no tips, so I would say that the amount of work and the wage is not fair. 
Most of the stores can get pretty busy especially during the weekend if you work in the mall area.
Because of this, the turnover rate is high, and we are always understaffed. There is little to almost no sense of belonging working here.

The upper management can be very stressful and have unreasonable expectations and reasons to make your job more difficult. They change company structure too often, the chain of command is not clear, and little to no communication whatsoever.
The product size and quality are very inconsistent. 

The only benefits that you got are 20% discount on pastries and free coffee for your shift. No further benefits for the assistant manager and store manager, which is very disappointing. 

One good thing with this company is there is an opportunity to grow if you stay long enough and are willing to do whatever the upper management said to do. On the downside, there is no job security in this company, as in they might terminate you for no reason. 

Hopefully, the upper management can improve the way they manage the company and treat the staff with better pay and benefits.

Things were going good when I first got hired. Above minimum wage but later found out no benefits and barely any discount on food when other places at least let you have a coffee or something free or at least a better discount. Coworkers are great and it's not a stressful job. At least it wasn't until you find out upper management is watching you like a hawk and frequent visits to your store put you on edge. I was a good employee, I did what needed to be done and was mostly always on task but I was expected to be an expert in doing tasks in which I had barely gotten trained in. Upper management plays favorites and doesn't even care if you do your job as long as you smile and talk to customers. Serve incorrectly done drinks to customers? Who cares!!! as long as you smile !! Upper management also wants staff to do a bunch of hard things without the extra time to do them. How is staff expected to scrub the walls or clean the dumb boat hanging from the ceiling if we only have an hour to clean up at the end of the day, and it takes about 50 minutes to clean the entire store and that's IF you're fully staffed. Honestly, don't bother working here unless you want to kiss up to upper management, and trust me, theres gunna be a lot of it so pucker up.

I’m a former Sales Associate at Danish Pastry House, and my tenure experience leans more toward the negative due to the company culture, ethics, and management. 

In the main, there’s a disconnect between management strategies and the realities of day-to-day operations. Their efforts to cut costs through reducing labor hours not only impact employee morale but also one’s ability to provide quality service. They have unrealistic expectations notwithstanding lean staffing; there is an imbalance between expectations and resources to meet management’s demands effectively. Moreover, the handling of staff matters was notably unprofessional in the work environment. There’s a lack of proper communication and interactions that necessitate respect and tact, which makes the workplace unnecessarily unwelcoming.

One thing that I value from my experience is the meaningful relationships I built with my co-staff on the floor. The management is dysfunctional on levels that make the workplace unfavorable. These negative facets within the company are evident in their turnover rate. 

I've been a baker for 15+ years. I've worked in breads, desserts, pastries. I came to DPH in 2017. In the beginning the DPH was still a new business with 3 stores. All the staff were in a little store in Oakville. Very cramped but we somehow managed. I did lamination, sheeting,ovens, breads and icing. Most of the staff were great people to work with. We went through a ton of toxic workers as well. I've seen it all here and I get what all these other reviews are talking about. The management was subpar at best. Now the business has grown substantially. The  day and night bakers moved into a factory a few years back. We've had a lot of turnover. Great workers and toxic ones such as any business. Currently we have a pretty solid team but could always use more workers. There's constant drama here so I tend to stick to myself these days and just get the work done and go home. Rinse and repeat. 
I stay here because I get treated well by the owners. We have a mutual respect for one another which was earned by both parties through years of working together. I enjoy what I do and know I'm making pastries that people can enjoy.

I worked in the pastry chef department and was responsible for preparing and baking a variety of tartes, cakes, roulade and other Danish pastry chef items.   It was a bit of a challenge to learn at first as most of products were new to me.  But it was fun to learn and rewarding to see the focus on quality and to see the customer feedback and products being sold in the stores.   I worked in the plant which is new and very clean.  We had our own changing rooms and there is plenty of space to work.  Most of the work is volume production, but there is limited automation for pastry chefs and everything is made fresh from scratch so meeting daily production can be stressful at times.  They need more automation. The pastry team was great to work with and it is a family environment. Our manager was demanding but fair and  the work was well organized.  There is an employee discount (20%) and the wages paid were better than other locations.

I worked here for about a year, and I wish I could find a positive thing to say about this place - but there's REALLY nothing. When I started, there was absolutely no training period. Because of this it is very easy for resentment to build with your coworkers because nobody is 100% sure of what they are doing. Managers aren't given enough hours to hand out, and are ALSO not trained/compensated for their positions as well. In the span of 12 months, my location went through FOUR MANAGERS!!! Not to mention, the business model was awful. Products would come in damaged or late, or not even at all. There was a time where my store had NO ESPRESSO! The work environment is so utterly stressful, having employees do the job of atleast 4 people all on their own. This experience has caused me so much stress, I can't remember how many times I've had full blown anxiety attacks in the washroom. 

If you want a place that actually cares, don't work here.
