David Lloyd Clubs

i normally work for 4-5 hours a day, i have taken loads of courses through david lloyd and have learned a fair bit about the business, including setting up a gym and how to promote, advertise and get new members coming through the doors as the studios are a new concept being worked on by david lloyd. 

The management could of been improved as i didn't feel like i got much motivation and support from my manager and if i asked a question or requested something id normally have to wait a long time to get anything back and quite often id have to prompt and remind my manager several times before i got anything in return 

The studio is quite dull and quiet so its hard to find the motivation to train clients there as its not a very fun atmosphere for clients as there isn't much going on. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is training my clients, i really enjoy talking and training with them and helping them and seeing them through their journey hitting goals and targets and only getting happier

Whilst working here it has helped me come out of my shell a little more. I enjoy seeing mostly everyone’s face when I come to work. Everyone is super smiley when anyone walks in, really bringing that feeling of “I belong” - so much so It often feels like a second home to me now. 

Every day is different and you can even be rewarded for pushing above and beyond which is not common for many business’. 

The pay is not the highest. I feel that this is one area they could improve on for sometimes you really do have to put in that extra work to get stuff done. 
You will always have support from your managers and the people you work alongside. 

If I could recommend to you a place to work. DL Clubs is on the list. 

Oh also you get a free gym membership for yourself and another for a person of your choice. 
So no more slacking for your Gym days! 

David Lloyd Clubs is a premium brand to most, but I also believe that they are a premium employer. Their values are all about taking care of people and ensuring that they have a good time too. I find it very wholesome that during the crisis of the cost of living, David Lloyd Clubs provided free meals to all employees everyday regardless of their role, status or level. David Lloyd Clubs is an equal employer who also so beautifully provide every team member and their family/friends with access to their beautiful Clubs. I find it an honour to work for this company and would recommend it to my entire network.

It is great to work with people who are passionate about what they do and I have met some great people and gained some great experience. 

Even though it has not been very enjoyable working in the sales department i have certainly developed my telephone and email communication skills as well as my interpersonal and customer service skills.

I have greatly appreciated the experience however, David Lloyd is not a company I feel like I would like to progress in.

The actual club is lovely, all staff are kind, friendly and sociable. The issue is head office and higher management. There is zero progression given or even offered. Many 'lower' employees have asked for progression info or pathways to get where they would like to be, these are always ignored by managers so people leave. There is a constant turnover of staff because people are unhappy and not getting anywhere. Pay is below average and just minimum wage for a job that requires skills and training the employee must have already have paid for themselves.

I have enjoyed my time working for DLL so far. By far the best managers I have had in any job role, in any workplace. You get your fair few awkward customers at the front desk (comes with any customer service role), who act very entitled and rude towards "the staff". But the managers at DLL Hamilton will always back you up, and make sure you're not taken for granted.

I worked in a sales and unfortunately my time there came to an end very abruptly. Some managers will be your best friends and some will make it clear there is a line. Awful work life balance (depending on the department) pay rate was very low with very VERY big expectations. 


The home care environment was not extremely fasted paced like in hospitals and was a good chance for new students to practice skills. The quiet and calm atmosphere prevented any major incidents or dangerous situations from clients and staff.

Easy job to do with very flexible hours and a nice team around you but mangers in most departments are not nice and don't offer much support to staff members.

Busy and lots of internal promotion. Good benefits . Family membership, discount  food and drink etc
Regularly understaffed, rota given late. No regular shifts
