I have worked 3 summers for three different hotel companies and my time this summer was at tonquin.
It’s a decent place with managers that try hard even though every summer in jasper there isn’t enough people to fill the work. Everyone complains but it’s normal for jasper ..I have to say I read some of these reviews on staff acomm and I had to laugh as the two companies I worked before had atrocious staff acomms …the tonquin was decent enough .. far from perfect but that’s jasper … there are no places period ! My first job put 4 of us in basically a one room thing which was full of mice and run down to gross.
This summer like my other summers in jasper was long hours hard work but it was what jasper is and it was harder yet with the covid thing…

One of the most beautiful places I've worked.  While working for Decore Hotels I worked at the Tonquin Inn on the east side of Jasper.  

Depending on the shifts that I worked my day would normally consist of running the nightly audit, checking guests in and out of the hotel, basic receptionist and clerical duties, assisting guests with directions, booking tours, and rafting trips.  

The staff accomodations weren't exactly the best but they were located close to the hotel making it easy to get to work.  Managment was always available for questions and was easy to get a hold of .  

The best part about working audit was sitting at the front desk, and occasionally you would see an elk or a deer walk past the windows.

I worked front desk here and my first job in hospitality industry. They give goof benefits. I learned a lot in this job which is helpful in my future job. However, it is always short- staffed. In my almost 3 years of working here, I feel like I'm training new employees constantly. The turn over is high. No salary increase so basically, I'm always training new staff while doing most of the job and gets paid the same as them. I am always scheduled all over the place to train others--- again, no benefit for that. Great job culture if you become friends with other co- workers. Good job at the beginning but you'll get tired of it after a while.

I really enjoyed the HR manager as she was great but the general manager is no good and doesn’t care about staff. They have such a turn over rate throughout the months I worked there I saw MANY people come and go whether they were fired or just quit and most quit because of poor management. They really need to fix that. The only good thing I got from this job is meeting new people and friends. Also, the staff accommodation is HORRIBLE! I really don’t recommend working here. At first it will seem great but just give it time. 

This is a motel setting in a resort town in the mountains.  Amazing to work there - must love hospitality industry and understand the pace and the strict deadlines (check-in is 4 pm so all rooms must be clean).  You get to work with people from all over the world, and the tourists are from all over the world. Hardest part of the job was the expectations of Management.

First time I worked in the Hospitality industry.   My role evolved from Executive Assistant to include being a Director of Employee Engaement.  The variety of tasks made for a very intereseting job, including being analystic and creating solutions.  The President/Owner was wonderful to work with.

If you have morals or strong judgement about how the way people should be treated, don’t work there. They won’t let you take your legally obligated brakes if you call out inconsistencies or unfairness, they will push you out and fire you. They love to publicly humiliate their employees if they do anything wrong.

Expect way too much out of you for what the job essentially is. The turnover of staff is like no where else i have ever seen. People come and go within a month not because its jasper but because they have virtually no time to enjoy jasper with the crazy summer hours and in the winter expect 20 hours a week.

Its a good company to work for , its just that they need to treat people equally and not make the employees feel like they in jail . I would highly recommend someone to go work there but only if they change the manager 

Working in Jasper National Park with Decore hotels was one of the best summers of my life. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating with my small family and service dog! Felt like a home away from home and had Canada’s most beautiful sights and scenes to explore on the hours after work! Would come back and work with them anytime
