Descon Integrated Conveyor Solutions

Joined Descon over five years ago and I have been extremely impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the greater management team. 

Far and away the best company culture I have ever experienced. We had roughly six to seven company events and team building experiences this year that really helps to create a family atmosphere. It seems rare to find this in Ontario... 

HR and the management team conduct employee evaluations for all staff annually on their hire anniversary date. In my experience they  identify opportunities for growth and work with staff on their career goals. They also share suggestions for what they believe are ideal promotionary positions based on their perception of your strengths. In my experience these are just suggestions and they will work with all staff if they have a difference of opinion on the direction/vision of where they would like to take their careers. WIth this being said it is refreshing to find an employer so actively engaged/invested in its employees career development.

Descon has recently been  experimenting with four day work weeks for its Shop staff because it was brought up as a suggestion of something the greater group would prefer. Along with this nearly all office staff have some form of remote work built into their work schedule (if not entirely). There has been no discussion of reverting this arrangement as far as I am aware, as the company is growing and delivering under this model which leads me to believe that its hear to stay. 

Descon is a great place to work, I really cannot say enough good things about the team. 

I joined this company almost as a fresher and since then I have grown so much so that there is no stopping. The management never hesitates to appreciate the hard work I put in which encourages me to do more for Descon. 
My usual day at work includes gathering all the information about the project and processing it to use in designing conveyors using SolidWorks. This gave me a lot of confidence to work with different departments and understand their work too. There is a great work-life balance at Descon due to the hybrid work culture. Recently management has been doing really well in assigning projects to reduce stress and mistakes while also providing some pocket to learn and improve while working. Everyone respects and understands from where one has come and there is little to no judgment in terms of work or personal life, but only support to push you ahead!

Typical day at work - I start my day by planning, executing, and studying what I did at the end of the day to improve the next time I do it. 
What I learned - It's good to be lazy if you are smart. 
Management - Senior Management has a lot of wisdom and patience to teach and allow a young and dynamic team to change day-to-day processes and succeed. 
Hardest part of the job - Getting out of your comfort zone and communicating information between departments
The most enjoyable part of the job - Exploring new technologies and tools to improve efficiency



I started working with this in 2018 and everyday I kept learning since than. I work as Assembly technician and as machinist and I find it so much fun with almost zero stress. Shop supervisor always have helped me and taught me wherever I find trouble. Not only shop supervisor but people with experience always ready to help and teach. HR Manager is always available from front desk crew and very helpful in every aspects. Job security is good as far as the person is willing to give his best.

The community at Descon are very resourceful and give an enjoyable welcoming environment. I enjoy working as a machine builder completing the projects they give me and find it very easy to find help when I need assistance. The office staff are very friendly and efficient at answering questions and completing time sensitive inquiries. This company has great communication and every one is well informed of procedures, projects, upcoming deadlines, and events. I feel as I can advance with the company and they provide support.

I would suggest anyone to work here.

A good company to work for. They have made many changes and advancements through the years, such as establishing many standard designs with a standard group of younger people. I worked in the custom designing group that would design  specialty type equipment.
I trained a couple of younger engineers on how to design the equipment that only I could design at the time.
Most everybody were good natured and easy to talk with

This company takes pride in it's product and requires you to have good attention to detail to achieve this but your coworkers are friendly and helpful. Some jobs are repetitive but there is a wide variety of product styles to work on. New stainless steel components make for a clean work environment. 

My time at Descon Pools was excellent. It was long hours, mostly 7am-7pm, and hard work. The people who I worked with were hard working and funny guys, who took pride in their work. We designed backyards during my time with the company. Mostly installed pools along with stone patio, artificial grass, and tree/plant installations.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It was close to home and on a bus route 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being the only shipper and receiver I could never get any help when I needed it 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
To many little social groupings 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy for 1 person doing all the shipping and receiving

This company has no loyalty to it employees. The minute you have your own opinion or have a situation with your family to deal with you'll be out the door, even if you have worked there for many years. Not a long term company, once management makes enough money, they will shut it down. This company is only usefull to rookies to use as a stepping stone for a much better career somewhere else.
