DNA is a great company to work for, however, there are a few things that are very confusing. Namely, as long as you do what is asked of you, you will be OK. But run afoul of a "Lead" (Supervisor) and you could find yourself in a bit of hot water. "Leads"
generally do not investigate what the problem was, and then reprimand you for not
doing your job properly.  This is very frustrating.  There is no "Corrective Coaching" to help you, and if you go to HR there's less help there. In other words, grin and bear it, or quit. They will rarely fire anyone, and if they do, it spreads through the terminal like a wildfire. On the other hand, management and leads over look clear violations of company rules, and yet give you trouble for something minor.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The camaraderie I had with my co worker is the best. And looking forward to see my colleagues come back every cruise ship season. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When there’s a  change with work schedule that we’re not aware of until last minute and we had to make the most of it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s a fast paced environment and it’s a multi cultural company. We had co workers coming from all over the world.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Really busy and productive. We assist cruise ship guest during disembarkation and embarkation at the pier.

Meet and greet, directional positions. 
Processing guests on arrival to the  check in procedures and embarkation of cruise ships.
Debarking procedures . All actions are time sensitive to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for all cruise guests and to allow for the timely departure time for all cruises.
Team work an essential element of this job.
Fun, fast paced processing of thousands of passengers a day.

Depending on availability, you can choose which days to work from the beginning of the season until the end. All shifts start in the morning and can extend 6 or 7 hours; very rarely can you work more hours.

The work environment is pleasant, and the workload is not heavy, as many staff are willing to help. 

Management has a difficult keeping staff, always lots of no shows every shift people constantly leaving after a few shifts.
If you need time off for a Medical appointment it is up to you to find someone to fill your shift which is almost impossible.  
Many Employees are Retired people which includes a lot of really nice people.  Many of the Management/Supervisors tend to send people home after 4 or five hours no consistency.

Busy and exciting, time flies

Typical day at work is fun and somewhat stressful at times. I've learned to deal with all kinds of problems. The management is great, there is a great team in place. Hardest thing is to plan something last minute when something is cancelled. The most enjoyable part is working with the public and meeting new people from all over the world.

The hours were not long, it's just a very fast-paced and interactive environment. Employees are either stationed at Vancouver's port or airport. There is a lot of interaction with cruise ship passengers and making sure they are being directed to the right area.

I love working here, if only it was the whole year round I would work whole year. I keep coming back every Spring and Summer, when the ships are in town, because I love my job as Port Agent.
