- bus ride from camp is rough and sometimes bus does not show up 
- there is no direction from the inexperienced leaders who think they no it all and never question them it will make you become a marked person
- management is really bad big turn over
- hardest part of job is watching your back and do not trust management 
- the trades people are keeping the place running the management make it look like they are
- enjoyable part of work is the gym and the trades people who treat you with respect

I worked directly for DGC for just over two years. I worked as a contractor for 3 years prior. This is a great place to work. DGC had a very competitive pay rate and benefits. There were always opportunities to better your skills and to move up the ladder. The team I worked with was more like a family. The team was extremely supportive of one an other. Being away from home for 2 weeks at a time was challenging but the job itself was extremely rewarding.

Good attitude with co workers
And very fair establishment to work in.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
To get used to the 12 hour shift

Good and plaisent and a good atmosphere to be in.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Enjoyable and very friendly place that think of there employees before them self,And all safe place to work.

Working at Detour Gold as a student geologist allowed me to learn a lot about the place geology has in mining. My co-workers were supportive in all my endeavours and also helped create a good work environment. The most enjoyable part of the job was that there was room for initiative, independence, and autonomy while knowing that your co-workers and supervisors were there to help and assist when need be. Overall, working at Detour Gold was a great experience.

Great team work from the top on down ,  on going training, Great support from management, good support from fellow employees, Company promotes a strong safety culture and recently administered a valuable set of values that each and every employee has a responsibility to uphold, informative quarterly town hall meetings,

On a busy day when we were running at plus 90% capacity it was extremely hectic. There would be many things happening at once such as: dealing with check-in, check-out, reports, different companies demands and any other situations that popped up. It sometimes made for a very stressful work environment. Being able to multi-task was definitately an asset!! In situations like that you gain alot of patience and coping skills.

Criminal background checks are extremely selective. The company hires former criminals as employees and creates an unsafe isolated environment. Personally as a female I do not feel safe working with men who have former assault charges, prison sentences and drug related issues. Even if employees there are on a contract basis, they still should be subjected to criminal back ground checks to ensure the camp life is safe for everyone.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people  not the company. Great environment with the right people. Company hasn't got fire escape plans, black mold in camps.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Knowing that the company does care about their employees amd safety 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The took an interest in Indigenous culture because they had too

Its a good place to work, but the fly in fly out is not 100% true.  If you live a certain distance they give you so much money for flights which you book yourself with Air Canada to Timmins.  The amount they give for flights does not cover the cost of flights to site and back home every two weeks.  They pay 9000 a year which is max flights, I will spend about 15,000 to 16000.  Then 3.5 hour bus ride from timmins

Senior management have no clue.

Good people get sacrificed and bad managers/supervisors are kept.

Their personal agendas are clearly satisfied.

People dropping like flies from senior execs/mgmt to current employees. 

Horrible morale.  

HR team is lead by a self-serving, two-faced ego maniac.

So many operational changes, people are looking to get out.
