I thoroughly enjoyed working for Lufthansa Cargo at GTS. Dealt with emails and calls from North American clients, making cargo bookings for Dangerous Goods, Live, Human Remains and Cool Active shipments.

I received Category 7,8,10 Dangerous Goods training, as well as Live Animal booking information. The group I worked with could be negative at times, but we tried very hard to keep things on a positive level. I had some fantastic friends, and we all worked together to make sure the days booking requests were completed quickly and correctly. Supervisors at times were bogged down with meetings and gathering statistical data, but the Production Coaches were usually able to assist. My biggest complaint was the lack of assistance when the Sups and PC's were all in a meeting. I would recommend keeping one supervisory staff on the floor at all times - there is nothing more frustrating than trying to have a question answered and no one around to answer it.

Teamwork was key - we all worked hard to ensure we had the most up-to-date and correct information. At times the data was scattered in more than one place, but that was being corrected. I was sorry to leave the company.

Was a seasonal employee directly for Lufthansa not a ground handling company. For a summer when they had an increase of flights. they only have 1 departure a day 5 days a week during the year so they only have limited staff. During the summer they flight 2 times a day 7 days a week so they hire seasonal staff every year for 4-6 months, and hire permanent people only through the seasonal pool. Most rarely there is a position for the seasonal pool, so external except  for seasonal is not a possibility for my revous station. Most stations are contracted out to a third-party handler like global aviation, menzies, swissport, hallmark aviation, worldwide flight services, dnata, or sometimes other airlines will handle them like Air North Yukon Airline does for Aeromexico, and ANA in Vancouver YVR.

YVR station doesn't entrust ground agents except for ramp and assistance service. Hires directly from Lufthansa by seasonal for six months every year for a summer operation. Then, employ permanent colleagues only from the seasonal/under-contract colleagues.
Unfortunately, during the seasonal period, there are no benefits and time-offs, but their pay is the highest in YVR for the airline's agent position, even with no experience. It is the perfect working environment. Awesome managers too. Also, switching to other aviation industries in YVR is pretty easy after getting the job, even though you won't be permanent. You will get a strong reference.

in my professional life, as well as the situations of a technical nature, i learned to know better and better systems that make airplanes, how they interact with each other and the best way to repair the defects that arose.
i have always respected the role of management, where some manager were asked to manage my time, i always tried to cooperate in order to achieve maximum results.
i've always been lucky enough to have colleagues with whom i have collaborated with each other in peace and professionalism.
Deal with unexpected situations.
Stay with colleagues at the end of a maintenance celebrating the success.

Working for Lufthansa the Airline is an excellent way to see the world.  The travel benefits make the job worth it.  Five Star airline makes it easy to do your job, since the airline sells itself.  Management really depends on who the person is.  It's better to focus on a strong company that is trying to be the world leader in aviation.

Very stressful, even though I deal with stress very well, this company drains you with ineffective and inefficient policies that drive employees away. I was hired with 8 people most left. The group that I trained after I was hired all left the company but 1.

hard working environment, but company offer strong protection for staffs from noise and unexpected hurt, enough skill raining for everyone, and a 28 days of annual leave, staff rate for flight to place all over the world for vacation

great team, and enjoyed my position and experience of helping passengers alot, but not alot of growth in the company. The flight benefits are good and alot of diverse roles and siutations so job never gets boring
