Devon Shoes

Overall, I'd say that Devon Shoes was a fun place to work. The environment provided was fun and active, although like every working place, had pros and cons. 

I learned many tricks and techniques to provide excellent customer service, as well as doing inventory among other jobs. 

Management for the most part was very good. They were flexible, kind, and always listened whenever there was a problem. 

The most enjoyable part of the job was seeing the many happy and satisfied customers that walked out of the store, and providing them with the best customer service possible.

This was my first retail job and it was fairly simple learning all the day to day procedures and selling shoes. However, management isn’t good at all and from what I’ve heard it hasn’t changed. Management is always breathing down your neck and I never felt appreciated for the things I did, and sometimes didn’t even feel welcome at my own job. There’s constant pressure from them without feeling rewarded at all.
Since it’s a family owned business there’s also really no way to grow in the company either.  Once I found a different job, I felt what it’s really like to feel appreciated by your own team

I love meeting and interacting with people/customers. It's a fast paced environment and I enjoy that. Learned a lot of skills from receiving, unpacking, coding/entering them in the computer, stock management and most of all dealing with customers on a daily basis.

Typical day at work helping people, cleaning, putting away and marking shoes. Learned a lot about codes and how rude some customers can be. Family business so it’s not fully developed compared to big companies obviously. I liked it, people were fun to work with, sometimes you get asked to come in because lots of people call in sick which is a pain. Everyone working is basically very young. Overall good place to work and learn about business management.

You are under constant pressure from the manager at all times and sometimes are forced to give customers a product despite not asking for it and or not showing interested before. Though when the head manager was not around, it was relatively easy. Stocking up the shoes and keeping it organized while you help customers with shoes and sizing.

Devon Shoes is a fabulous store. I learned a lot, with codes and costs.  The most enjoyable part of the job is the co-workers and the music, it's always a blast when you walk in the store, and even more of a blast working there. Management is skilled, along with the focuse.

Horrible pay.

Management is all over the place. If you make sales you're loved, if not your hours will be cut expeditiously.

The owner's son has taken over. Not much experience and very emotional.

Not the best work environment. Family company so they only really care about their family and not so much the other employees. Catty environment and lots of tension sometimes between employees, not recommended. 

It's a great place to work with great benefits, lots of challenges and commission based. Learned a lot on how customers are, hardest part of the job is dealing with rude customers. Most enjoyable part is everyone who works there.

I originally started working for them when they used to have a location at Metrotown. I continued to work for them following the relocation to guildford town centre. The owners are wonderful people and I highly recommend them as employers.
