As a sub Assembler it's the best position of the company because at least a few people are willing to help and train you. Most people here say check your drawings and those aren't even right. They are out dated and need to be written on because of mistakes, changes or updates that they can't be bothered to fix. You have to take notes on your job. There's no instructions on how things should be done correctly which would ensure everything is consistent. I haven't taken notes since high school and even then I didn't do well with notes and if your notes suck good luck figuring out the job. On a weekly basis the supervisors are coming over demanding to know why jobs aren't done when the team lead has told you to work on something else and you get trouble for it. A continuous joke is the motto is good enough which you really don't want to hear working with airplanes but that seems to be the case. As long as it's good enough to pass QA it's good. People coming in straight from school are getting paid the same amount as any schmuck off the street and they've got the necessary experience for the job. I know a job is work but this is definitely not a place that is good to work at and not a place I would recommend anyone working at. 

If you're looking for a workplace that values control over culture, Diamond Aircraft delivers. Phones are banned, personal conversations are frowned upon, and advancement is nearly impossible unless you fight tooth and nail... or know the right people. Raises go to the higher-ups while loyal, long-time employees are left behind, especially when the company brings in outsiders to keep wages low.

There’s a clear favoritism that caters to those in power, while many hardworking immigrants are taken advantage of, trapped by rules and paid just enough to hold on. Employees needing time off for valid personal reasons are met with resistance—unless you're going overseas for PR-related reasons, then suddenly exceptions are made.

This company doesn't reward dedication. It exploits it. Diamond Aircraft may build planes, but they clip the wings of their own team.

orking at Diamond Aircraft Canada has been a very positive experience. The environment is productive, with clear goals, well-organized processes, and a strong focus on safety and quality. Teams collaborate effectively, and there is open communication between engineering, production, and quality departments, which helps solve problems quickly and professionally.
Management is respectful and approachable. Feedback is constructive, and training opportunities are available for those willing to learn. This supportive culture allows employees to develop their skills while contributing to meaningful projects.
Like any aerospace manufacturer, work can be fast-paced around deadlines, but resources and support are generally provided to manage the workload. Overall, Diamond Aircraft Canada is a great place to grow professionally in a respectful, team-oriented environment.

If you are looking for a first job to break into the aerospace industry then this job would probably do the trick. I just really hope you don't have to pay rent while you're here. You will more than likely leave with less money than you came with. The work environment could be worse as far as culture goes but this might be the most unorganized company I have ever worked at. Stacks of work orders lying around all over the building collecting dust. They have tried to hire 3 different people while I have been here to digitalize them all but they just keep making more paper and those people keep quitting. There's typically 10 new people starting each Monday and 9 of them are gone within a few months. Lots of problems at this company and lots of Band-Aid solutions. Overall, just a mess. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Their aircraft look amazing, especially DA 62. I was happy to be a part of an aircraft assembly team. However, my communication and English skills were so bad that I did not a good fit for a team. Also, my attitude did not meet my team's expectations. overall, the people there are nice and friendly.

I have no idea. But I think it should be fast-pace

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I come there, greet my co-worker and back to work. Scanning into work order, following instructions including reading drawings and notes etc. complete and close work order and move on to the next one...

Employees are underpaid and viewed as replaceable in ALL departments. They act as if you are lucky to be working for them because of the “cool factor” of building planes. Countless broken promises (ceo promised to fix leaky roof 3 years in a row during yearly all hands meeting - its like a waterfall in some places, leaking inside half built planes). Managers are constantly shifting blame from one person to another which eventually falls onto the workers, all in an effort to hide their own incompetence from the ceo. It really is run like it was opened yesterday. I could go on and on. It sounds like im just a disgruntled employee - which I am, but this is how all of the employees I have talked to see it. Even the managers!

This is unfortunately place has A LOT of potential, BUT old management from the door open days in Canada has really made this location crumble. Since the Chinese ownership, Canada Location is still on the bottom of the List compared to China, and Austria sites. Training is just starting pick up with great efforts of the director, but the mindset is very negative, and job quality is poor. Composites Dept has more NCR‘s than parts being made. Please stay away from this place.

Great family atmosphere when I used to work here 10 years ago. Company used to do a lot for the employees and their families. Don't know how it's turned out after the layoffs in 2011. Pay was on the lower end of industry standards for licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers back then, and from what I have heard, it remains below industry standards now for skilled, licensed Maintenance Engineers. They build airplanes, but management treats it like any other production plant. Might have well been building bicycles, for all they cared.

Note: The new CEO is a good guy... Unlike the last guy. Hopefully he'll turn the company around.

Working in the FRP division has been a deeply negative experience. The managers are unprofessional and create an atmosphere of intimidation. Most alarmingly, they consistently ignore PPE requirements while working with hazardous resins and composites, setting a dangerous example and compromising the health of everyone on the floor. If you do not fit their personal preferences, they actively seek ways to terminate your employment. I cannot recommend this environment to anyone who values safety and respect.

Diamond Aircraft Industries Canada operates like it was opened yesterday. Verbal instructions usually contradict work orders. The managers are more concerned with trying to make it look like they are doing a good job, than actually trying to fix the countless problems that are brought to their attention. Bringing problems to their attention is a great way to get yourself harassed by the management.
