Direct Tap

I worked for Direct Tap in the interior for a number of years. Myself and other long standing employees helped the company grow from a hole in the wall in Summerland, to where they are now. 

They have recently fired or forced the resignation of every single employee that has been there for multiple years. 

They have been through three different managers in two years. The turn over in the warehouse and of drivers is unbelievable. It’s kind of a cliche to say that you’re overworked and underpaid, but at DT it should be their mission statement. 

You will be treated as a number, not as a person. Once at DT they treated people like people. The crew was a group of friends all working towards a common goal. Now with the new management forcing people out of the company, it’s a collection of individuals all just punching a clock. 

Direct Tap has completely ruined their reputation in the industry and have become a laughing stock. It’s sad to see what this company has become. 

Direct Tap will underpay you. They will not show any form of appreciation. The only effort they make for their employees, is to ensure that they are extraordinarily under informed about their job position. 

Do not work for Direct Tap.

The absolute and undeniable level of nepotism is outrageous. Since there has been new executives brought in, the entire identity, reputation and culture of the company has changed. Not for the better. 

One new executive in particular has found it fit to hire every member of their family. Then install them in senior positions throughout the two major branches. 

Do not expect to advance unless you’re directly related to an executive or if you mindlessly follow orders. If you dare to speak out against the usurper’s family you will be let go, one way or another. 

Everything is extremely disorganized. There is a seismic lack of communication that is inherently ingrained in the work place culture.
 
They completely disregard long standing employees that helped build up the company. You can volunteer to work ungodly amounts of overtime and they will never show any kind of appreciation. 

Overall this company will take advantage of your ambition. They will take advantage of your drive and determination. They will underpay you and expect you to out perform your salary or hourly wage. 

Was with the company for nearly 5 years and have nothing to show for it. This company as the title says will chew you up and spit you out.

Current upper management has no direction for the company, nor is it run well. There is no communication and half the time your best guess seems to be as good as theirs. Also there is absolutely no culture 

Current local manager majorly lacks integrity, compassion, dishonest and is very two-faced. Plays favourites and if you "go against the grain" so to say you will likely be pushed out. Expectations are ungodly as you are expected to go far and above what your role description is. OT is never offered, again it's expected. You don't get paid fairly at all for what you do, not to mention for where we live and what's going on in our world today

It's best to stay away from Direct Tap, it is a revolving door for its employees and you are not treated fairly, nor are you really cared about. It's like the saying goes, you are just a number.



Over all experience here is mixed. On the one hand I made a good friend, met some genuinely awesome people. On the other I was let go for questioning the sheer overwhelming amount of work at my position, and had to deal with some fellow employees who were always angry and starting arguments, trying to get you in trouble just because they didn't like you when you're FORCED to work with them. Some employees were lazy and would just sit watching baseball on the computer in the warehouse, others would just wander around aimlessly well a few employees worked their butts off. If you apply for a position, don't talk to people, and especially don't ask questions, they will fire you on the spot.

I worked far to long at Direct Tap to know how the business goes and I knew I had to leave when I had the chance. When the new CEO started he decided to hire his whole family and place them in higher paying roles that far exceed what others have put many hours in and should’ve been earning what they make. Then turning around and  letting go or pushing out long term employees out the door. Would you want to work for someone who doesn’t care about their employees and their possible advancements cause that family has taken those roles. I’m sorry but when you have been there for so long and don’t feel appreciated or feel valued equally. I was done. Do not accept a salary position unless you are ready. They over work their employees who were on Salary and were never gave them there allotted time off in Lou of their earned overtime. 

When I first joined, there was a lack of process and direction, but within a few years and a many new managers in place, the company had grown to be somewhere I enjoyed working at. 

While I was there, the finance team really helped me with my career development. I was given the opportunity to take on more intermediate tasks and projects, with a lot of guidance so that I would succeed. My opinions were heard, and suggestions taken on board.



Great working environment but can be extremely busy at times! Some days you will end up working long hours, either delivering or picking orders. Lifting between 20L to 58L kegs and picking several cases/flats of beer, wine and cider. 

Since the new President / CEO things have gotten worse. Long-standing employees have left because of personal reasons and to boot the president hires his whole family which a huge conflict of interest. 

Current Manager is inexperienced and lacks integrity. 

My review is based on my last year working there but overall a great experience.

Terrible management, when they have management. Turn over is absolutely unreal.
Favouritism is rampant and not dependent on your skills but rather how you stroke egos.
Tons of dog %*!?ers, more drama then high school, and complete disrespect of the hard working people that keep it afloat. 
Safety is an absolute joke, death traps everywhere, and the company spends money on new management before fixing detrimental safety issues. Also let people without lift tickets drive forklifts around.
Not recommended, unless you like toxic work environments and no job security.


$16 an hour to start is pretty sad for the kind of physical work you are doing. Walking 15-20+km a day and repeatedly lifting from 25-155+lbs for 16$ an hour? Even 18 is not great for that kind of work. Honestly should start at 20$ at least.  Management is pretty bad and doesn't care about much. The supervisor was awesome but I can't say the same about managment. They are desperate for people so you'll have job security but they really don't care much about employees,  especially newer ones.
