They advertised for a job position as a liquor demonstrator. I was called for an interview. I ended up paying them $80 (stupidly I must say because I have never fallen for scams in the past like this) with a prepayment plan to pay another $90 to send my profile to different jobs available in Calgary. Why do I have to pay for an agency to send my profile when I can physically send my resume electronically to different jobs? Well again I went with it.....the last straw was finding out I had to pay another $5 or more monthly to gain access to their online job postings and then call them to let them know I'm interested in the jobs posted. They would also take a cut out of my pay regularly.  Why are you an agency again? Never have I had this happen to me in Toronto a job agency assists you in finding a job and either has a contract with your employer where they get paid or takes their cut when you get paid.... But not before even finding a job.
What's losers!!! I never went back!! Stay away from them waste of time and money. 
I ended up getting a job by doing what I did before sending my resume electronically.

This company is unorganized to the point of they have not a clue or a care if you are working. They have you call three to four times a day and only get you one or two days of work. The staff is rude if you have a question and very unhelpful. They are slightly condescending towards females and in spite of a full hard labour resume ask if you are sure you can do the job. They don't get you more then a few days and tend to double book on those few days they send you on making it look like they have no idea who is where or who is seeking work. They have to be hounded and calling them for work is an unpaid job in and of itself. They are condescending and rude on the phone and never really do the things they say they are going to. They tell you they have plenty of work when you first come in which seems to be a complete lie. The shame of it is these guys can get away with treating you like dirt and know it.

Diversified found me this placement quickly. And it has been long-term and stable.

Overall, my experience has been positive. My recruiter is always quick to answer any questions I might have.

Only concerns are that when negotiating/hiring for this placement, the recruiter (at the time, not the same one now) said this was a temp-to-perm placement and that the position typically does transition to permanent. So far, I have been there a year and a half and I am still temporary.

There is no room to negotiate a raise, as their contract with my placement is a very low rate and there's no headroom to work within.

As a temporary worker, you do not get health benefits.

I've been temping for these guys on and off for 3 or 4  years now. There are times when there's shortages of work, so you must get what you can take. Once you've proven yourself to be a good worker,  they'll keep you working. 

Myself, being an unskilled labourer at the start, I gained a lot of different skills from being at so many different worksites. Made me adaptable, to the point now where last year, and now again this year, I'm working for a company that's using Diversified for their hiring pool.

WHMIS 2015 and Flagperson training offered on site. Basic PPE available on request  Recruiters and management are excellent, they'll help you out to the best of their ability. Extra 4% vacation money banked. Pay weekly via cheque or direct deposit 

My main responsibilities were data entry, taking work orders, dispatching temporary workers, and answering any questions workers or employers had. The management here was excellent. The managers allowed my work schedule to be extremely flexible as I was a full time student trying to maintain a full time job. The manager would purchase pizza and pop for the staff every friday. They held many potlucks and had a wonderful Christmas party. The compensation was more than reasonable given the responsibilities of the job. This was a slower paced work environment most of the time. I would recommend this employer.

a typical day at rockwell was you mud in nails 3 rooms a day 3 coats to a wall then the roof 3 rooms a day the physical labour was probably the only requirement you needed to sucessfully be good at your job i learned that hard work pays off and my co-works were still a very diverse group of people the hardest part was hours you worked but as long as your joking around a bit you push through an forget about it then most enjoyable part of the job was my boss actually, he was a funny guy liked the hard work, a really go get it atitude

Most of the positions available were based through contract availabilities, meaning that a company in the area needed additional coverage for their business so they world hire temporary staff to assist in different departments. These short-term opportunities helped me gain experience in departments such as Human Resources and AP/AR. These were entry level positions where you were trained to work in the position accordingly.

Typical day at Diversified Staffing was showing up at the head office for Jobs they were offering that morning. Once you are assigned a Job, You were either given a ride to the job site, or you will need to find your own way there. 

Diversified Staffing was a great way for me to get a Job very easy and fast, and I was not required to keep the Job if it was not to my liking because most of the Jobs usually lasted about two weeks. 

None the less, I didn't have any problems with the Jobs they sent me to. Their staff were very professional and helpful. I have not gone there for a Job in awhile but I would not mind going back at all.

Housekeeping duties on construction sites. Assisting carpenters, tradesmen with completing tasks.
Getting sent to different jobs each day I learned how to work with all kinds of different people.
Not the best workplace culture as the work is temporary and day to day.
The hardest part of the job was waking up at 4am to ensure making it to the office by 530 to secure a job for the day.
Most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people.

They don't "register" everybody who applies anymore. And you don't get work simply by applying. You have to register. But if you are not pretty enough they refuse to get you into their system. Do they think they are the crim de lah crim? Because I disagree...they should take everybody. Then when you are pretty enough they phone and phone...the job has moved to next week...every dumb excuse to phone. Unprofessional. Annoying. A gazilliin phonecalls about one assignment getting shifted that you haven't worked at once but your phone rings and rings. Get it together people. And stop discriminating.
