I've worked on the Sales Floor at Donnelly Kia for about a year. It's hard work and not for everybody. Starting out you have to expect that you'll be putting in long hours to get established. If you're focused on the long-term you can do well. Expect your income to fluctuate and be lower at times, especially in the winter, but you can make good money during the rest of the year if you're willing to focus and put the effort in.

Management is overall helpful and seeks to invest in you. They've put significant money into me for training in several different areas and they are upgrading their sales tools (CRM System) which will help improve productivity overall and for me personally. If your expectation is that you'll be passive and wait for things to happen, you'll be disappointed. This job and this industry requires a willingness to put in extra effort and be assertive and proactive.

I spent the first 6 months pretty much working open to close every day and coming in on days off. I don't do that as much now, but the job nature itself requires flexibility or you'll be frustrated.

The workplace culture is fast paced, and requires initiative to make things happen. I've not had any problem with management listening to me when I initiate concerns and they've been flexible and helped when I've had special needs related to health or family.

I enjoy this job and I'm seeing success in it. I've worked in Sales in several other contexts and been in much more difficult settings than here.

My role was a Fleet Driver for the company meaning I would personally pick up and drop off certain vehicles to and from.

Very monotonous with a day in, day out feel.

Not a difficult concept to grasp however there was more to it than simply driving and having to explain that to management got tiring after awhile.

Staff overall was friendly and encouraging however there were some that sought to micro-manage my position when they had no business in doing so.

Pay raises are unfortunately not a thing however the benefits packages are quite generous overall.

The position overall gave me a better understanding of what happens behinds closed doors at the dealerships/shops so I am grateful for that aspect. However, the low pay and lack of growth ultimately pushed me away to alternative employment.

Overall, a decent company with some great people that genuinely care but the bad cookies spoil the entire lot leaving you searching for alternatives.

My day at work is filled with laughter, even in the busy times. I've really learned to be acutely organized in my position. My manager cares for me like I'm part of his family. The owner does too. One time the owner bought me a jacket because I was cold. Free concert tickets to be won, outings, free food! The staff here are some of the hardest workers I've ever met. They are driven and engaged. Hardest part of the job, I would say, is the busy times. Busy times come with stress, but the stress is rewarded with a great work environment. Best part of the job is feeling accomplished after a hard day of work and having fun with the staff that have become closer to me than my own family. I've been here for over 10 years and I'm a baby compared to most of the rest. They've got 20-30 years experience here. Once you go Donnelly's, you can't go back!

The group is fantastic. The Kanata campus is excelling in every way and growing. I love working there because the chemistry between the management staff is very friendly. The best part about this group is you are heard, you can voice your opinion and upper management will listen. They will give you an opportunity to try things and grow the business with them. 

They have been supportive to me and my family, in the car business you dont find HONEST and well structured groups anymore to most people it always about the money. This group has a HR department that actually listens to you and respects what you have to say. 

You dont feel like your walking on eggshells and you def dont get blind sided by anything. I highly recommend this place as a career. 

I worked at another one of their locations before moving to their Kanata store and the difference in management is noticeable without a doubt.

I wish I’d known before I agreed to make the transfer.

The management team is unwilling to hear what their employees discuss with them and have have tunnel vision and the owner does nothing to promote change in them.

The GM gossips with employees about current and past employees, overall a negative environment.

Avoid their Kanata locations you’ll be glad you did!

I've been with the Donnelly team for nearly 7 months now and could not be happier with my time here. It's a team that works together to bring the customer (and employee) an exceptional experience at every interaction. Our service and sales teams strive to work together to bring out the best experience for all. Great place to build and develop a career.

Couldn’t afford to eat but worked 9-11 hour shifts everyday. Expect to mess up your back. No proper training, expected to learn from others at your entry level that are always making mistakes and then you get blamed for it. Better off working at a small mechanic shop.

No help from management, when continuous help was asked. Old  equipment that is not maintained. No air, ZERO air flow is basement shop. Low ceilings, making you have to crouch all day under the car. Horrible coworkers in shop. Power tripping from "uppers"

I may have worked there for a few days, but it was a great time.

The people there were all friendly towards one another and me.

Labour there was good for those who want to do temporary work for the company. Everyone was mostly happy for there jobs.

Management was very productive when I was there.

I started at Donnelly brand new to dealerships and this group of people made it the easiest transition. Staff and management were always willing to help and take advice and fixed any errors or problems arising. If it wasn't for having to move away I would have loved to work here until retirement called me.
