A typical day at work:
       Check in with a swipe card; go to the locker to get cloth changed, must ware uniform, safety glasses and safety shoes.
       Before work starts, I usually clean my glasses, check communication board to see the updates, job postings and other notes. 
        I would like to go to view all my responsible lines' daily programs 15 minutes earlier before the bell ring, and calculate the quantity of each components that the line needs for each hour, and printed out the parts number to check the warehouse inventory level, and get everything ready, meanwhile, I also needs to prepare skids for finished goods.
       When I go to fetch the parts, I check the parts quality and record the lot number for future trace back-able. If I see some parts short, I will tell receiver or supervisor to let them order the parts.
        Once I moved various components to each station of the production line, I always place the parts nicely and handy for the line worker, meanwhile clean the empty toes, boxes, and move them to a proper place, for the paper box, I have to move them to a machine to break them down. When a finished products skid is ready to go, I have to move the skid to a wrap machine to wrap it and move it to the shipping area. 
         The hardest part of the job is that some times the line suddenly change program due to some reason, I have to move away all the current parts on the station, and find all the parts for the next program immediately, but it may encounter some of the new program parts don't have enough to run a hour, then the program needs to switch back. No matter how fast I run, it still have a short time down time. I enjoy the job because I can walk a lot.

  They hire temps right away, other reviews are wrong.  You can get a job as an assembler, material handler, warehouse team member without starting as a temporary worker if you have experience or willing to learn.  They have a good safety culture and good work force who has worked there for 30/20 years.  They have monthly events and fundraisers for the community, focused on reducing carbon footprint.

Working in a warehouse and the people over there were nice

The most stressful part about working at the company is running out of materials for the people who’s working on those car parts.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Busy, friendly, teamwork , etc

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Showing up at work every single day and being on time.

Great place to work, good work life balance, however the culture seems to be more designed for an older crowd, not many events for employees not a "fun" place to work. 

Job advancement is very tough as there is only 1 manager for every department of 4-6 people.

Get to  deal with high level customers a lot (BMW, Nissan, Mercedes, etc.)

Dortec for new temps there is no future they will tell you you will get hired on a contract but they don’t commit. After 7 months as a temp worker once call from my temp agency and was told don’t go back. Also very unpredictable surprise calls not to go in.

The only people who do well are the staff who have been there 20+ years. I don’t recommend starting in this company as work is not steady.

At first it was very challenging, but I had great support from Management and colleagues. It may not be easy in the beginning but the further you go the more things you learn. Always sth new pops up, new challenges but you always have your mentors beside you who share the knowledge and support no matter what., Nice place to work.

There are no free rides.  Everyone is expected to work and do an excellent job.  I am now retired, so I cannot really speak to what the company expectations are now.  I know that I typically enjoyed the job I was doing and I found a lot of support from co-workers and management. 

I enjoyed the many yrs working there.  The balance between work and home life was great.  Excellent team work shown throughtout.  It provided me with some training I was able to put into practice not only for the company, but also to carry with me when I felt the time to move on to new endevours came along.

The management team at Dortec is only interested in their own bonuses. They continually understaff and overwork their employees. Labor laws are consistently "bent" to meet whatever requirements they have. No accountability, no loyalty, no respect for their workers.

Management is very supportive and mentoring within the company is excellent. Friendly staff. Promotes from within.

Extremely fast paced environment, takes some time to get used to.  

Great company culture - Magna Charter is alive and well in the company.
