Doug Coleman has terminals in different cities.  I can only speak for the terminal in Windsor, ON.  

In Windsor the staff is very nice and workers are friendly.  The manager was a great guy and really bent over backwards for you.  Unfortunately he has left the company so things may have changed.  The office is easy to get to and the yard is concrete which is nice.  Trucks are all newer but because of slip seating you sometimes get a dirty one.  Trucks are maintained well enough for DoT standards but don't expect them to fix the comforts like AC, window controls or the CD deck.  Also they use PeopleNet and sometimes the keyboards don't work so it can be frustrating to communicate with dispatch using the touchscreen.

You never really go further than 250 miles away no matter what run you get put on.  They're supposed to do bids every month but they never did unfortunately so if you get a run you don't like you might be stuck with it for a long time.  It's union after 60 days which is a huge perk. The only huge complaint I had was that the main terminal in London had a tendency to screw up paychecks frequently.  But the manager always got it fixed for you.

Overall it's a great place to work and I would gladly go back one day.  The pay isn't the highest and it is bi-weekly but the hours are great and the runs are dedicated home daily.

They use and abuse you. cheat you into working more hours by telling you that you mail runs are done at a certain time in which you sit at the Canada Post Depot for hours waiting to be unloaded. If your unload time is 6:15 you must be there at 6:15 or get in trouble and then sit in your truck outside WITHOUT PAY for up to two hours. Your Contract says you are done by 6pm then expect to be done at 8pm and not get paid for those extra 2 hours you worked. Doing the Math I worked an average of 56 hours a week and got paid at $14/hr for 42 Hours according to my contract. Also you will Find Doug Coleman at every Knights game drunk out of his mind like an idiot while he treats his employees like they are worse then garbage.

I entered into the company with a new DZ license willing to start my career and the didn’t hesitate to take me on board. I felt supported since day one and i kept learning trough the days and months, the help me to get my AZ license and now I’m enjoying my life and family moor now.
Be prepared to understand that the rates they Pay are fare for people who just got their license and they are assuming a big risk with new drivers, the hours account is pretty fare and you get paid for each hour you work they don’t take time away from you.
I got nothing but appreciation for this company and I highly recommend this company either to start your career or if you are looking to have a peaceful job and stay close to home every day

A typical day is Invoicing, dispatch for multiple companies, data entry for multiple companies.  Rates for different areas for different  companies.  Scanning, filing, answereing both e-mail and phone inquiries from customers.
Dispatching drivers to pick up locations, and helping them with any problems they may have.
The computer systems and phones go down quite often.
The most difficult part of my job is that I have multiple people from within my company wanting me to assist them with their jobs and not enough time in the day to do it.
The most enjoyable part of my day is the interaction with the drivers and helping them make their jobs easier.

A typical day at work was delivering emply pins and picking up automotive parts from various location and delivering them to G.M plant in ingersol ont. I learned a lot at doug colemen trucking as this was my first trucking company that would hire me after getting my class AZ licence.The management team was very helpful and friendly.The workplace had multiply cultures all good people to work with.The hardest part of the job was learning to back in to the shiping doors as i was a new driver still learning.The best part of my job was communating with  the customers and my coworkers.

Job that had a high demand but paid very little for it. Dispatchers where paid minimum wage and promised raises that where never given - higher management was generally unprofessional and things where dealt with very poorly. 

CEO is rude and will watch you like a hawk if you're in the main office, lots of internal corruption. Drivers are treated poorly and paid equally as poorly, but if you're a new driver with zero experience, at least gives you a place to start. No growth in company. 

Terrible place to work with horrible pay. I would not recommend this place to anyone who is looking for AZ driver job. They are not honest with their pay and once you are in, you will see how badly their drivers are paid plus the bad condition of their trucks and even when you inspect and tell them certain truck are bad, they will insist you use them and these at your own risk cause you might get pulled on the road by the cops for driving with truck with for example broken side mirror or something else. Again, horrible place to work in.

Mostly split shifts for dz drivers not doing daytime LTL. DCT will help you to achieve D and A licenses as well as your Z endorsement.  Drivers can expect to be persuaded to enhance their license (and you should), but also to have an unfavorable contract in regards to repayment of your courses. Pay particular attention to your hours worked vs pay, they will occasionally miscalculated in their favor (almost certainly on purpose). DO NOT trust dispatch!

I would not recommend Doug Coleman trucking to anyone...you're not even a number there you are a slave.....the pay is terrible....it might be alright for someone fresh out of truck school to get their feet wet and then move on asap.......just not a good place to work.
