Overall my experience at Downer has been a positive one, we have had a number of successes, and have seen the business grow. Procedures and guidance I have written can be found in the companies quality management reference material and I am quite proud of that.

I have travelled to many different places I may never have had the opportunity to see and helped construct things that should exist long after I am gone.

I have made some life long friends and learnt a lot about the role of contractors building major infrastructure. At times, I have been challenged and learnt a lot about my self and working relationships as a result. 

When we set of for New Zealand we said maybe five years woud be enough to explore and experience it. Its been eleven years now and we both feel the time is now right to return home.

Start at 7:30am Finish whenever. Stand by and Call out on weekends every third week. Sometimes travelling great distances to jobs around the country. 
Learned to programme MUX cabinets, ADSL, VDSL, wireless ADSL and digital phone systems. Installing BRA & PRA networks.
Management was good when left to own devices. Supplied equipment and resources when needed.
Great co-workers, Three of us covered TelstraClears network from Waikato, Coromandle, Bay of plenty to Taumarunui. Worked as a team and always helped one another.
Hardest part of the job was always doing overtime, standby and callouts.
Enjoyed working with high tech equipment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Friendly work ethics, family friendly rosters, great environment. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Attainment of spare parts, and long drives from perth to some work sites

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Easy to work with people of different cultures and backgrounds 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work to given easy targets, no pressure of work and manageable tasks.

Unfortunately I did not last to long at Downer I ended with eye problems,  so I had left the company, other than that the work that was assigned to me operating water truck and Rock truck was a great experience , the crews where awesome and helpful , management is good 👍,  I did enjoy working for Downer .

always good working in diferent areas of the waikato,i learnt different ways of work sites to ensure safety.wasnt realy a difficult job hardest part for me was standing on stop/go for long periods of the day.i enjoyed moving around from rural sites,highways and scenic routes.

liked working here, the company had been taken over and jobs were cut/  Maintanence and construction of different sites and various locations.

Not a bad place some of the guys don't have the greatest attitudes and make it difficult to stay positive. Not a lot of people willing to show you the ropes you're left to fend for yourself.

theres only one thing hard on traffic control and thats standing doing stop go for 10 to 15hrs a day with no break 5 days a week maybe if there was a way of sitting down then itll be great

I enjoyed my job and time with this company. It was good steady work. Go for it. They are a good company. A lot of great scenery to look at while you work too.
