If you haven’t worked in the industry before, I would not recommend starting your career here.

Their training program is completely disorganized and rushed. New employees are usually left flustered when they’re left on their own after the 2-day training. 

That being said, if you are experienced, Drayden has the building blocks to succeed. Their processes are very organized and clear and they adapt to changes in the industry well. However, you are severely micro managed and the targets set are almost unachievable. You’re almost set up for failure. If you work hard and are not easily stressed, you can be rewarded.

It’s also important to note there is absolutely zero flexibility and work life balance. No flex days, or flexible work hours are offered.

Because of the stress inducing environment and lack of progressive work life balance policies, employee turnover is quite high. 

Culture is also quite poor, at least at the office I worked in. You really don’t feel valued. The company does offer some events and incentives for employees, but on time outside of work hours. 

Management also is not very receptive to employee feedback, which will hurt them in the long run as more progressive companies offer a better work life balance. 



Management is very approachable with an open, welcoming door. Any issue large or small is able to be addressed. I started with no previous experience, and came from a previous industry of trades construction. The on job trainer was very patient, educational, and accommodating to my learning speed and style.  The consistent hours and regular schedule is ideal for family life. It was the main feature that drew me away from the trades. That and not breaking my body every day. The other office staff here are amazing. I feel we have a really strong team where everyone connects quite well and have a great workplace culture. The workload is average to heavy, but since I started there has always been 1-2 staff members on medical or parental leave. With a full team in office, the workload would be quite moderate. Base salary is quite fair and is based on ability and initiative. If you desire more money, prove you’re worth it and it will be there for you. Overall I highly recommend Drayden as an organization.

The one on one training was adequate for someone with experience. The self-study of their procedure manual was not great. Some of the procedures are lengthy in an almost unreadable format. Management is inexperienced, had definite favourites and shared private information about other employees. It seemed very promising at the start but quickly stalled. There was a lot of employee turnover. The experience was hindered by COVID as many things they normally would do, could not be done due to restrictions. Pay fine, benefits fine - work environment was not good. All of the rules did not apply equally to everyone. Extra time and extra effort not recognized or rewarded unless it resulted in premium dollars. 

From training programs that are customized to your way of learning, support through personal development, weekly celebrations of success that maintain a positive and supportive mindset, to team challenges that keep staff engaged and an easy going, supportive team atmosphere with an open and approachable management team, the Edmonton branch is where its at. I have worked for many brokerages over the 11 years I have been a broker, and none have made me feel more at home, more supported and offered more opportunities to succeed than this awesome group of humans. 

The training was excellent and prepared me for my role within the company. This is a close knit company and you feel like your part of the family I have found my Forever Job. This has made me love my career.  I had been so let down by my previous employer and had question my choice in Career. Drayden's Management, procedures, and over all business ethics made me realize how a company should be run and showed me that there is still companies out there that value their employees. I recommend Drayden Insurance to all my Insurance Agent friends and recommend everyone to deal with Drayden for their insurance needs. 

My time at Drayden will be remembered in a positive way. Never once felt judged by any of my colleagues and always had someone to support me when I felt stuck. Obviously you are working… as it is a job after all. However, there was a great balance of fun as well. Working at Drayden really defined what real team work looks like. While there isn’t a requirement for your employer to accommodate personal requests, my manager and upper management went above and beyond for me. 100% if the opportunity was available down the road and it aligned with my journey in life - I would reconsider Drayden as my place of employment.

I have worked at a few brokerages and found it is common to either be micromanaged or get tossed into mountains of work with no training or support. Drayden gives me all of the tools that I need to get my work done well and if I ever feel overwhelmed I have tons of support. I also work with many great role models that have grown through the company and show me that I can do the same. Plus there aren't many other places where the president of the company takes time out of his day to reach out and say thanks or give kudos! Great environment with a lot of people I consider friends and not just co-workers.

Occasionally management can be unpredictable. Things seem to change a lot and it’s hard to keep up and management often dismisses concerns employees have. 

Some of the offices have some drama and things can get catty for no reason. Bullying in the workplace is a problem but it’s hard to navigate when it’s people in superior positions doing it. 

The work/life balance is difficult as well to achieve. Especially if you have a family. I definitely wouldn’t recommend Drayden if you’re trying to raise a family or have children and family is your priority, not your job. 

The impression you get during interview is different than the actual work environment. The company has numerous rules regarding time off and unnecessary procedures that result in excessive workload. Management tends to avoid conflict and individual problem-solving.
Bonus structure is not geared to account managers in my opinion.
You may not have full access to your vacation time during your initial year. The dress code is strict and outdated.
Nice staff overall, aesthetically pleasing offices. 

I worked for Drayden for the first time in 2015 and shortly after got pregnant. I ended up leaving for 7 years to start my family and was very excited to be welcomed back in 2022. My coworkers and managers are all amazing! The training and support throughout is whatever you need it to be. Company is always making advancements to grow its culture and environment. Lots of fun challenges throughout the year. The only thing I can say that would be seen as negative is that the wages are a little low for the level of tasks required, but even then I would not choose to leave due to the wage.
