Dueck can be a great place to work, but, even for the car industry, the culture here is incredibly dated. Turnover of employees is high because individuals are rarely given the opportunity to advance and grow, so they end up leaving. Communication in an organization comes from the top down, and unfortunately, that is abysmal here. You're more likely to find things out through word of mouth than in any type of official capacity. Communication is not facilitated between departments, which typically leads to a decline in customer service. There are very few employee perks for such a big company, and the ones that do exist, seem to continue to get dwindled down as time goes on. To be clear: you will meet some fantastic people working here and there are members of management who really care about their employees; but, there are a lot of aspects of this company which need serious change and it seems that those with the most power to do so, have little interest.

I spent nearly 10 years with tbe Dueck Auto Group.  I worked under Senior Management who were always firm, but fair.  They were also very accomodating to ensure that I was in the right position within their organization.  Unless you commit a theft, are dishonest, or disrespectful those holding a higher position...they will, generally, help you work through anything that may arise.  They do not cast employee's away, over spilled milk.  I worked as a Financial Services Manager, and Sales Manager at each of their 3 locations, and always felt that sense that I was part of the Dueck Family.  The hours weren't bad, and they offer you a chance to make a great income.  But you need to come to work, to work.  I now live 4000kms away, and am always proud to tell people I worked at Dueck GM.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Made decent colleague relationship and got  decent experience 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being a flat rate technician was fun and games and making good hours at first, then  being handed bigger jobs under warranty, you don't get paid accordingly then being told " it is what it is". Having the parts department order the wrong parts consistantlt with no accountability and costing technicians hours. Typical dealership politics with distribution of work being in some techs favor more than others, with obvious favoritism. Dispatch not knowing how to assign jobs accordingly to skill sets in the shop, would prevent work flow. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic - no accountability - poor communication - unspoken expectations

What is the best part of working at the company?
The staff was kind and respectful, owner she was a very kind lady! 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
New GM behaves based on historical grudges! And it can be transferred to other employees to survive their employment! Unfortunately spreading untruthful performance reviews seems like a way of getting ahead! 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Sales Management likes sales staff to shine their balls, so they will take care of them! At the moment, would be the wrong environment to build a consistent business with clients at the company as an individual. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Small numbers of walk-in traffic! 
Mostly self-advertising and referral!

What is the best part of working at the company?
People matter at Dueck.   They don’t micro manage. So you are trusted to do the best job you can do. And they are there if you need help

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I answer the phones and it can get stressful when you are gathering information and the phone is ringing. Kindly put your caller on hold and answer the other call.   It’s really not that stressful

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Inclusive. Warm and Friendly. Everybody is busy busy busy!!  But we do chat. Everyone is nice!!  Sounds strange but it’s true. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I answer phones
Track sales calls, walk in’s, and appointments
I work in an excel spreadsheet to enter salesmen’s hours
I am the first contact with the dealership.

I've been at Dueck for over two years. I started my career here in the Accounting department and after a year I realized that accounting is not the job for me. Instead of leaving, the management was amazing and worked with me and my skill set to find a better role in this company. I then transferred into the marketing department overseeing our websites and now I absolutely LOVE my job. My manager is a joy to work with and she constantly encourages and supports me in taking on new projects that interest me allowing me to grow in this new role. Dueck is also very supportive and involved in the local community and encourages its employees to join in like BC special Olympics' polar plunge and the Cause we Care Foundation.

I look forward to going to work everyday, and everyday is different and interesting with the opportunity to learn new approaches to improve business. Management are very knowledgeable and are always approachable to assist and support on a daily basis. We like to refer to
our fellow employees as a good team, and our slogan is Team Dueck for participating in community events such as the Polar bear swim for charitable causes. The most challenging part of the job this year has been Covid and the low inventory that has resulted because of it, however, when you find a customer the perfect fit for them in a vehicle and see how happy they are, it really is a great feeling of satisfaction.

Management was mediocre, if things were going good, it's fine, if things were going south, management throws you under the bus, at my time here I saw about 7 advisors come and go so seriously high turn over, techs also came and go, younger techs like undermine you and make things more difficult, there wasn't a decent colleague around, everyone looks to sabotage you to take your place, they just don't know how high of a volume the shop can get, you need to be in constant good standing with service, sales, and parts, otherwise either of the sides will make your job difficult, alot of favorism, the pay was decent that was about it 

show up to work early, head done to the cashier office and collect all invoices. stay there until the cashier start there shift. book appointments .
what i learned was how to go over the invoices and explain it to the customer . management was very helpful when needed. co - workers were helpful and great to work with. hardest part of my job was being yelled at from a customer because the service advisor wasn't there.
most enjoyable part of my job was when management told me what a great job i was doing and receiving a raise.

I worked for Dueck Richmond for seven and a half years and really enjoyed working for them. The management is great very supportive and helpful in and out of work. The fellow employees are great everyone gets along very well it’s a fun place to work. The support I got from everyone at Duecks was excellent, when I had health concerns to deal with they were great supported me threw the whole thing I can’t say enough about everyone at Duecks they are like family now. The owners are the nicest people I have ever worked for as well. If you ever get the chance to work for Duecks take it you won’t regret it they are awesome people to work for.
