I am writing here to let warn everyone about what happens in this company. Dufry has wonderful people, but unfortunately my lovely supervisor is not one of them.

Firstly, there was one Sunday night where all the staff were scheduled to finish work at 1:45 am, on the dot.  However, our evening supervisor decided to have a huddle about employee behavior 5 minutes before the shift ended. As a result, everyone got off approximately 5 minutes late, and a couple of my colleagues even missed their shuttle bus, thus they had to wait for at least another 15 minutes. It is one thing that we do not get overtime compensation for finishing late, but our brilliant supervisor told others that the team got off late because there was a last minute customer. 

The point is, how can a supervisor spread lies like that? It is understandable that everyone makes mistakes, but is it that difficult to admit her mistake in regards to poor time management instead of boasting more lies and blaming the team??

Secondly, this one of a kind supervisor also talks to the team in an extremely rude way.  Once I had to call in sick because I caught the flu. During my first day back to work, she did not ask how I was doing, instead, she asked for my doctor’s note. She even had the audacity to say that she will keep monitoring my performance at work. To be honest now, she probably calls in sick more than I did for this year so far.  I am not sure why but she usually calls in sick on Tuesdays. How would anyone feel working under a supervisor who fails to show any sympathy towards her ill team mates, and yet she calls in sick more often than an associate does. I cannot fathom how much longer I can tolerate this kind of work ethic.

Thirdly, she is nowhere to be found when we are in need of help.  Instead we had to seek aid from other category supervisors, which I find to be very ironic. Everyone on the team is well aware of this fact.

Now anyone reading this must be wondering why I did not inform any managers about my supervisor’s ridiculous behavior. The truth is, I did and the evening team did as well; but nothing happened, because the manager favors her. Ultimately, she is continuing to do what she usually does with glittering pride, nothing has changed.

I am not writing this to make the managers deal with the situation. I know better than to believe that the managers will do anything about this. I am writing this to caution potential applicants who are considering joining the evening Luxury team, please think twice before you apply.  You do not want to work for or with someone who has zero work ethic, absolute lack of respect and value for staff members, inability to manage her team and work load, failure to show any empathy when needed, and overall creates an extremely toxic work environment in a company that is otherwise supposed to be amazing to work at. To make things short, she is a manipulative and poor narcissistic soul who thinks she is the boss of World Duty Free Group.

Like all big companies there are alot of Pros and Cons to any job          I have been with Dufry for over 5 yrs now and I enjoy working, learning and making great friends.  Through the years I have been here, I have seen many changes for the good.  For instance, communication between staff and management. . . it's getting better and management have been making great strive to hear us out. I enjoy working in YVR meeting many different people on their way home or on holidays.  It can be crazy busy in the Stores especially in the Summer but I do enjoy the hustle bustle.  
World Duty Free Dufry is a great place to work and learn new things. . . one thing I like is that I don't have to worry what to wear every morning. . . we have uniforms that is supplied to us.  
Each year we go on the Sun Run, Christmas Dinner and Dance (great gifts too), Family Fun Day.  .  don't worry about $$ . .  it's paid for by WDFG Dufry.

So, if you are interested working in YVR airport, meeting new people, enjoy making new friends. . . overall a "People Person"  come check it out !!

Let’s me start by saying when you first go through the hiring process it makes you feel like you have picked the right place to work. 

Upper Management is nice at first, but eventually their true colors show.

They promise to support you and help you if you need help. They promise to help you be successful in your position they promise to be transparent and open but the true is in the end all is false.

Great place to work due to the environment which is not created by the management team but by the frontline staff you get to meet amazing people from different backgrounds. 

In the end if they don’t like you or you have served your purpose to them they will let you go “with out cause and pay you out”. 

Even doe they say they will help and support you to be successful in your role.

So current supervisors/management beware before applying with this company.

The company has good people, however management needs an overhaul.  The company spreads a sense of false cult like corporate culture, but management does not live by the corporate culture.

The company is a stepping stone for you to build your experience on your resume.  However, there is very little opportunity to move up the ladder.  Management is not present and engaged with staff unless there are issues they need to attend.  They are not there to lead and mentor.  A lot of power tripping individuals and silo departmental mentality. At times work conditions can be toxic due to mismanagment and poor communication.

Due to negative reviews, the company sent out an internal email to employees to give their ratings a bump up.   I am giving my honest review, and I am not going to sugar coat things.

The hour wage is $16 per hour .Dufry is easy to fire people.  Many employees  kiss the key holder butt ,they can get the  standard working hour for 40 hours per week.  I am a male employee,my supervisors don't like to help me. The key holders and supervisors  openly play favorites with members of their team and isolate themselves from they dislike.When the key holders don't like you,you must get non-stop trouble.They will make you to confuse by fact on their orders or their decision  and make rumors  influence all colleagues hate you . The female key holders and supervisors  are fond of gifts and their  friend group party . A new naive young sale associate paid $90 for a lunch with one of a female key holders.The  male key holders like young girls.

Started out as a Sales Associate and is now a Sales Supervisor.
Lots to learn at the beginning and many helpful and friendly colleagues who are always available to provide support.
Company encourages internal advancement and provides us with the training needed to be successful in the company.
Management is approachable and easy to talk to, they always try their best to provide you with answers to your questions.

Do not work here! You are not valued as a person! Company only driven my making money! They will cut your hours when you are promised full time!  Awful management only concerned about making money! If they don’t make money bye bye to you! Who cares if you have a family to feed  job security no advancements! Horrible management and favouritism here. Safe yourself some time this is bad bad place team.

Great company to work  for , i have been with  the company for the last 7 years,,Plenty of growth opportunities, encouragement and support from Manager's,Great team culture , everybody believes in supporting each other, family kind of environment. lots of outside work fun activities for employees, Great benefits. 

Definitely recommend people to work with Dufry , Vancouver.

The management was very bad in this company. They dont care about the people how hard they work because they thought they know that when they apply this job and also got paid. 

Somepeople spreads a sense of false gossips and rumours, but management does not care. Supervisor don't care your work performance if you know how to flattering to them. 

Not recommend to work in this company if you don't know how to suck up,ingratiate your boss.
