Once at the job site, every individual usually knows what the task for the day is; for example waterproofing concrete planters and a concrete deck. As a crew of four, the foreman runs the squeegee, one labourer "runs" pails of hot rubber and the other two labourers lay the remay (microfibre reinforcement) and lay the protection board. The rule of thumb with a four man crew is production of approximately 4000 sq. ft. Equaling 1000 sq. ft. per man. Before the waterproofing membrane can be placed, the crew needs to load the kettle with the 25kg rubber kegs that will be melted down to liquid to a temperature of approximately 400 degrees Celsius (this process will be doen throughout the entire day), prepare the surface to be waterproofed by clearing the concrete of any possibly penetrations, dry up any water/ dampness in the concrete with a propane torch, sweep/ blow away any mud, dirt, garbage, etc. and finally prime the surface with a sprayer. Once the primer has completely dried then you begin pouring the hot rubber, while the foreman spreads it to a certain thickness before it cools and the other two labourers lay the remay over top of the hot rubber pressing the remay into the rubber with a broom using a sweeping motion thoroughly over the entire surface. Once a certain amount of concrete has been waterproofed by the first coat (hot rubber & remay), the crew will go back and cover it with more hot rubber and protection board. The foreman will spread the hot rubber while the one labourer pours the rubber and the other two labourers will lay the protection board with a two- three inch overlap. Once that area has been waterproofed, depending on the time of day the crew may begin to clean and prime another area or move the kettle into place for the next day if they are returning to the same job site or they will pack up the truck with all tools and garbage and make sure the kettle and propane tanks are properly secured.

Very large scale and well established company, with very little respect for their employees. Lack of communication throughout entire company, extremely poor management. You will definately gain hands-on experience quickly with Duron due to the fact they prefer to use their employees as heavy equipment machines to cut costs. Extremely unorganized. They work on multi million dollar projects, but i doubt they have the skills to do basement renovations if that. I worked for them for 2 years and decided to part ways. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. Stay away from the concrete division it is a sinking ship. Restoration, waterproofing and epoxy divisions i would recommend. They are ran by seperate management.

No stress, there was no hurry, no stress the people who own the company are awesome.

Very friendly, laid back and helpful. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy yet comfortable.  Birthdays are awesome there.

I have a family member that works with this company. Unfortunatly he is exposed to serious bullying and harassment from one particular supervisor that he believes is out to get him. Do not trust this company, they have delayed cheques multipule times and missed days on cheques, aswell as seriously mistreat hard working employess. Their choices of managment suck and its unfortunate that a whole familh has to feel the ripple affect of work place harrasment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Some of the co-workers are friendly. And the Supervisors are good after you get to know them.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with overtime and night shift.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It could use some improvement between workers in the field.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
7a.m. start and 3:30p.m. finish.

Theyvseem clique  based and racially segregated. They do work they aren't supposed to, to bypass regulations and union rules.  There's alot of bias. But at the least they pay well. If they have hours for you. If they don't they give orefference to formen and string everyone else along with the minimum hrs they can to retain workers without paying them enough in working hours. 

Really great if your young and want to get into construction, but not a good place to go. Management is nice, but they will constantly make mistakes that make your job more difficult 

My experience at Duron has been great. A family culture with great people who genuinely care about every employee and their family. Many other companies play games with the pay, but at Duron I've never had an issue. A+

A very nice company to wok with, good compensation and work culture. However, the room for advancement is very limited due to the company's structure.
