This is a very stressful, negative work environment. Assistants don't have any support and if you are hard working, you will be given work out of your scope. This is a poorly managed firm and a very negative workplace. If you are a good worker, a typical workday consists of arriving to work early, not taking any breaks, and leaving late, as well as working weekends. Most people are very rude and it is not a pleasant workplace.

Staff friendly. Lawyers helpful. Great experience learning insurance defence litigation. Need to promote assistants internally. Good experience. Need new office manager who find out needs of assistant & how to promote within the firm.

This is a very negative work environment. Assistants very rude so is HR. This is a poorly managed firm and a very negative workplace. If you are a good worker, they still walk you away or fire you for no reason. Most people are very rude and it is not a pleasant workplace.

Very good people with lots of long term employees and an enjoyable easy going working environment. Not being in the heart of financial district means the pay and benefits are a little on the lower end but still a worthwhile work experience.

Dutton Brock provides a supportive and professional atmosphere in which articling students can hone their legal skill set across all areas of insurance defense and accident benefits.

Toxic /negative -not a pleasant place to work. Hard work is not appreciated. Another sweat shop. If you are invited into the firm be prepared to be laid-off even when your work is excellent.

Your work life will be dependent upon which lawyer you work for. There is some opportunity to move up from assistant to clerk but it seems it could be motivated by how many people like you vs. your skill set.

Having worked here I have learned a lot of different things/skills that are invaluable.  Have met some really great people and have made a lot of friends.

My typical day at work consist of the following:

File review
Prepare Affidavit of Documents
Review and prepare medical summaries for Discovery, Mediation and Trial

Great place to work, great people and environment.  The team I worked with was very supportive and everyone helped each other regardless of "who's job the task was".
