Greatly enjoyed my time working here. The manager/supervisor was one of the best I have had the pleasure of working with. If you want to grow here, you will, but you need to put in the work. The work/life balance and long weeks were what ultimately had me leave, but otherwise the work culture here was the best out of any job I have had. They will take care of you and give plenty of perks for your hard work, such as a free meal if you work a certain number of hours in a day. Benefits were also outstanding.

I've worked for the company for 3 years. I used to be a road tech, but move to one mine. Being a road tech left very little time home with family, expectations are that Dyno comes first. Pay is OK considering the work involved. Benefits are decent, pay deductions are high for STD and LTD. Management is extremely lacking. Great group of guys, however cross shift competition is ridiculous. Overall a good place to work for a single person, but if you have a family be prepared to give up a lot for the company. They are very safety oriented, but training is extremely lacking, and be ready to get thrown to the fire right away to learn on the fly.

What is the best part of working at the company?
3 on 3off weeks there is nothing else that is good about this company get paid the same as a truck driver and shop hand

stressful working arrangements no spear parts and a bad attitude for purchasing new parts

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Newfoundlanders that are not qualified do the repairs with wrong parts however keep the plant running and management happy

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Grueling 12hr shift with every little support and mouthy manager

Very rewarding and challenging position. Something new to learn every day.Could be a very physical challenge on some days. Team work esential between millwrights, electricians, instrumentation and stationary engineers. A real feeling of achievment when it all came together and a problem was solved and the plant was again up and running.

The Dyno Nobel Hagersville site is a decent place to work. The people are friendly, there are opportunities for advancement if you are willing to stick it out as a Helper for a few years, and the pay is ok.  The jobs is physically demanding and the hours are long and unpredictable, with a lot of very early mornings, sometimes 2:30 or 3am start times in Hagersville with a 3 or 3.5 hour drive to the quarry, which is paid.

Extremely clueless and poor management. They will throw you at the job with 0 training and no support. A lot of nepotism. They do not pay overtime. Most people here hold jobs without proper background/qualifications or post secondary education..so then imagine how you can work with a bunch of tools.

Management is humble and supportive, especially the BM and RM.  There is always corporate things to get through but they were willing to listen if you didn't agree with a new process,  This company is focused on growing and changing and best business practices,  Extremely fair to its employees, give and take relationships.

Job was located at the Ekati mine in the NWT. It was a temporary position and fulfilled all requirements. Enjoyed work and camp life. Learned a new business in the mining sector. Management was engaged and helpful in all aspects. I would consider working full time with this company.


You work 12 hours, learn heavy equipment and explosifs. Management is lenient on mistakes but a lot of co-workers are hired for their relationship with management.


Worked around-the-clock crazy hours, almost lost my family over it. In  then the end kick you to the curb when times are tough, and make a b******* story up go long with it.
