FH Automation

It is a big family at FH Automation. You can try your hands at many different trades and learn skills that are useful inside and outside of the shop. Everyone working at FH has an abundance of knowledge and expertise waiting to be passed down to willing individuals. It is a great place to make valuable connections.

A typical day of work starts at 6 am and ends at 4:30 pm, with lunch at 12 pm. 

What I learned primarily at FH was HMI development with FactoryTalk and Ignition. I learned a little bit of PLC Programming with Studio 5000. I also picked up a basic understanding of the trades; Electrical Wiring, Machining, Welding, Steel Cutting, and Electrical Design using AutoCAD Electrical.

I've worked with FH Automation for some time.  While the work is fast paced and we are always busy, it is interesting work, and everyone collaborates well so that it is not hectic.  As with any company, there are areas where process improvements could be made, and management seems invested into continued growth and process improvement.  What really keeps me at FH is the people and always staying busy.


Interview process was very casual, it's a quiet but friendly environment.
Management are easy to deal with and are open to new ideas.
Hours are flexible
Work/Life balance is good and management are willing to accommodate for family needs. 
Overall a great experience in my first year here.

There are alot more meetings than I'm used to.

Very Regimented work day... work at your own pace.

salary isn't great, benefits are sub par. Work is repetitive. Management doesn't care and frankly is incompetent. Everyone complains there about the pay. in my time at FH i saw many people leave for better pay. Revolving door. No tool allowance on a low salary was a no go for me. Overall a stepping stone to a better opportunity. Wouldn't recommend working here for long. Overall safe environment, pretty clean work.  

By enlarge there was a certain amount of autonomy. But the project manager was not allowed to look after the client's interest without a lot of interference from sales. Thing were agreed on by sales after the initial sale and not transferred to project management. Sales always caved in to what ever the client wanted, making it difficult to manage  projects correctly.

Working at FH has been great. People try to hold each other up instead of dragging them down. The sense of accomplishment upon completion of a project is visible due to the "cool factor" that the machines exhibit. 
Lots of engineering knowledge and experience to be shared with up and coming talent.

Cons: you do not get a chance to interact with management, they seem relaxed but they are extremely busy, Management is not in touch with the designers and the work does not flow easily. Delegation of work via management is not based on job importance

Pros: the do automated welding, and the have robotic cells. good experience for a student

Never a dull moment at FH, management is good, work is engaging and pay is above average.  FH is good a recognizing those who put in 100% of there effort and give it there all. 

Good company with Hi-Tech production, but needs more organized and better management. This company have to change own politics and, approved and help the employee to up-grade them knowledge.
