Working at FWS has been one of the most rewarding professional experiences I’ve had. From day one, I’ve felt genuinely supported by both leadership and colleagues. One of the things I value most is the culture. It’s not just words on a wall; it’s something you feel every day in the way people collaborate, take initiative, and show respect for each other. I’ve had the chance to grow both personally and professionally during my time here, taking on new responsibilities and continuously learning. The company really encourages innovation and fresh thinking, which keeps things dynamic and engaging.

The good: Above-average compensation in a lot of positions, really good benefits, decent vacation, modern office spaces. The people are a key strength.

The bad: Advancement opportunities are limited to a chosen few and the culture is deadly and soul-sucking, particularly to women looking for a progressive environment. Women in all areas have left and continue to leave due to the new boys' club being installed at all levels.

Men also experience a demeaning and harassing environment where supervisors and managers take credit and do their best to make others look bad so they look better. It really doesn't matter much what area you work in. If someone senior to you wants your responsibilities, they will take what they like and won't be hindered. If your job is changed, it likely won't be communicated until you find out from someone who is not your direct supervisor or through a job posting that you happen upon.

It might be a good foot in the door in the construction industry. It might have enough good people that you can overlook the corporate culture, but I would not recommend trying it. There are other options out there.

If you're a handsome, young, male engineer who didn't do particularly well in school but likes to golf and drink beers with the boys without having to worry about silly little things like equality, this may be the place for you. And if you do it well enough, you'll move up the ranks quickly.

What is the best part of working at the company?
nothing, garbage company , cheap, probably the cheapest company to work for in the entire industry. They expect you to work for garbage wages, and a month at a time, terrible 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
the garbage wage, and the ego maniacs that become lead hands, the bosses think they are the greatest things, the meetings they hold, the stupid questions, "what did you do lean" they go around and ask everyone, give me a break, we are not children, we are adults! 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Lame, I will never go back to FWS, i cant stand their culture, my goal is never work for that company ever again!

A typical day at FWS is dynamic and rewarding. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with talented colleagues on diverse, challenging projects. The company culture is supportive, safety-focused, and built on respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Management is approachable, communicates clearly, and genuinely cares about employee growth. I’ve learned a lot here (technically and professionally) and feel encouraged to keep developing.

The challenging part of the job can be managing deadlines, but it’s balanced by strong team support and good planning. The most enjoyable part is being part of a company where your voice is heard and your work is valued.

If you're considering joining FWS, I’d say go for it, it’s a place where you can grow, feel respected, and be proud of the work you do.

Meeting some good people that made it enjoyable

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Unworkable deadlines that did not correlate with actual job lengths and time need to properly complete projects

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They work you into the ground with little to no incentive, work safety is frowned upon and you are constantly working with drugged up workers who have no idea what’s going on

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Extremely long with sub par lunch and bathroom trailers, lots of rushing and improper completions of projects

Rate was good.
Micro managing was too much


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being micro managed.
Being second guessed for everything.
Even though it was something they heavily suggested to do. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Core group of buddies. Only matter. Work together to hide safety infractions until they can't hide it. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Keep welders busy at all costs.
Once a near miss or incident occurred with a different company on site. Everyone treated as if they were incompetent.

One of best places I have worked for!

Progressive work culture, company recognizes and celebrates the fact that its employees make the company great and employees are valued.  Many long term employees (25 years plus) both in field and office!  I really have learned a lot in the 8 years I have been employed by FWS, lots of brilliant employees who are always willing to help & teach!  

Paid Benefits, RRSP, Health & Wellness and Social Committees, Gives Back to the Community, Advancement Opportunities just to name a few of the highlights.



FWS is a wonderful company to work for!  Came from a customer service background, but they saw the potential in me and took a chance.  Very thankful for the opportunity given to me here.  They were very supportive and helpful in my training by giving me the tools I need to succeed. I get continuous support and encouragement from my teammates and management.  I love the culture here and enjoy my workdays.   Great benefits, vacation, and profit-sharing opportunities.  Very family oriented as well.  

Top notch outfit. Starting wages are a little low however your hours can be used to acquire journeyman status in a number of different trades. 
I believe this is a good way to weed out individuals who are only there for a paycheque. 
If your passionate about doing good work this is a great place to work with a wide variety of jobs to do.

There Safety is top notch,also the longevity of work they have can keep you employed for years

If there’s an incident or especially an injury

It varies, its construction, many different nationalities but over all very good

Making sure all the workers have all the proper documentations and paperwork in order and interacting
